Club having its best year in a decade and people are calling for the head of a kid who has been a regular player in that side. 

Anyone who prefers Dunn over OMac needs their brain checked.

Not a preference, just that Dunn is a man and O'mac is a boy and Dunn can contest with his bigger body. May, Lynch and Wright will monster O'mac, not because of skilll but size.

I'm suggesting he should entertain other clubs that will give him a more regular opportunity...he's struggled to break in all year despite excellent Casey form. Then the one week he returns, he does ok and then gets dropped straight away.

I don't think there's much of a future for him as a half forward flank, which is where we've played him in his 3 games this year.

What a strange change, surely ANB deserves more than one game?

ANB out after one game again to make way for an unfit Vandenburg who is in rubbish form this year. Yet another poor decision by the selection panel. They have been woeful this season.

Firstly the last decade is hardly a high bar, and secondly O Mac has looked out of his depth most weeks, as was the case again last week. He's been a detriment in defence regardless of results. It's no slight on him. He just isn't ready to compete against AFL key forwards and is hesitant in most of what he does.

Winning games is good for development. If you genuinely think O Mac is doing as good or a better job than what seasoned AFL defenders in Garland or Dunn would do, then we're in disagreement. But I won't label you a "know-it-all" because of it as I learned at about the age of 10 that disagreement is okay.

I'd however remind you and others that every selection decision can make a difference. We lost the game last week by one scoring shot. 

I really have no words for dropping ANB after one game when we're playing him out of his natural position only to bring in AVB whose doing next to nothing to justify a spot and on the back of no VFL form.

I think I'll take WB's advice and give up worrying about selections. There's rarely been a week where they've all made sense.

Good god the coaching staff have been pathetic with selections this year.

Dawes comes back on the back of no form and no VFL game and now Vandenberg comes back from injury who has also been very poor this year.

We split hairs over selection when, really, we know little about it.  There is so much more to it than stats or who we perceive to be playing well or poorly.  The modern game demands adherence to a game plan and an ability to play the role that is asked of you.  Getting all salty about it does little.  We just need to back the FD on these decisions as they know far, far more than us.

Hoping we see Oliver back in this year. He's one of your best talents and since the club is going down the path of pumping games into kids regardless of form then he should be at the top of the list.

Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney. That's our midfield core for the next decade right there.

Happy with the one change. 

vandenBerg hasn't had a great second year, which has been effected by a preseason ankle injury, but he's a better player than Neal-Bullen, who I don't rate. 

Neal-Bullen may come on, but he's presently not AFL standard.  I understand the philosophy of getting games into players, but right now I'd rather pick our best team.

I'd agree with you if vandenBerg was fit, I don't think he is.

He certainly has and, as you say, he admitted it as such.  He's almost made terrific selections as well and backed some younger players who have come good.  It takes some courage (and a little piece of insanity) to back someone like Oscar, or a Jayden Hunt, put in most instances he has been on the money.

Just quietly, though - I'm surprised Oscar got another run this week.  Thought he was beaten a little easy in the contest by Kennedy and Lycett, and I thought they might turn to a Garland or Dunn instead.  The decision to stick with him will either be a ripper or blow up in their faces.  I sure hope it's not the latter.

Should have played off him, jumped & spoiled. THE Kennedy one he misjudged the flight of the ball, as did everyone in the pack bar Kennedy who was hanging out the back. Luck or better judgement ? Anyway, losing a contest (which was a pack not a one on one) to Kennedy is no hanging offence. The bloke is leading the Coleman which suggests he can play a bit.

I agree that he is unfairly maligned by some on here.  He is a player whose mistakes are magnified and everything else is ignored.  He still looks a little timid and he can be beaten one on one, therefore it makes him an easy target.

However I thought he was beaten a little easy last weekend in a few situations that, perhaps, a more experienced player may have been able to avoid.  He seems to be playing the role Garland played previously, which sees him end up on players who have a distinct height and weight advantage on him.

I'm happy for the club to persist with him going forward, but I am slightly worried about seeing him in a one on one contest on either Lynch or Wright this weekend.  I think he will turn out to be a handy player for us in the future, but he still makes me nervous when the ball is in his area.

Err.....I am slightly worried about any of our defenders in a one on one with these blokes. Hoping our mids can reduce GC's inside 50's to a new world record low.

Early in the year I thought OMac was miles off and should be dropped.. He's still a shaky commodity but I'm happy with his progress. His biggest weakness is his weakness. Is a couple of pre-season's away from having the core strength to overpower big forwards and to sprint back to position if we turn it over.

I like that stability in the team and while I'm a big fan of Vanders, I'm disappointed that ANB has not been given a better run at it.

He'll get his chance next season IMO.  He is obviously right on the cusp of selection, he just needs it to click.

It's a worry for ANB they have dropped him for VnB who hasn't had a good year. Maybe im just hoping ANB will be a good player with an extended run, coaches don't feel like he is doing what they need him too.

Dawes came back and kicked two goals (out of 10), (with 5 tackles) two more than Watts and Hogan combined ( 0 goals and 3 tackles combined) ... which I see as a good result = tick

Vanders in round 16 and 17 kicked a goal in each and was middle tier in terms of MFC player performance... and is a beast when rolling  = tick   

Keep up the good work selection committee!

What's the deal with Oliver? Don't understand why he's languishing in the VFL is it just his fitness?

ANB very stiff doesn't do a kids confidence any good when he's dropped after one game, happened a couple of times this year I think. Should be given a block of games to show whether he is worth persevering with.
