Great City Bern

Never went to Bern, but I found Switzerland in general to be pretty poor. The people were worse than the French for being rude and arrogant.  It's a pity those beautiful mountains are surrounded by all those damn Swiss.

I've been to Switzerland a number of times and I've never found the Swiss to be anything other than friendly, it's unfortunate you have had the opposite.

It certainly ruined THAT trip  :)

Jack Viney was just on SEN. Some of his comments:

- Stomach punch in games is ok - play on!  Pay a few $$, so be it.

- Re Darwin: Felt like a wet weather game.  Need to prepare differently.  Can lose a few kilos in fluid.  On recovery: rehydration and diet are crucial.  Team wants a reputation to be able to win anywhere, any conditions.

- On coaching transition:  Goodwin in control pre-season games but Roos 'the big dog' throughout the season.

- Christian Petracca is his 'bestie' at the club so hangs out with him away from football.

- N Jones lacks a bit of power in the boxing ring!!!!  (Think he will have to answer to the Captain for that one )

Some interesting insights there.

Thought he was excellent, again.  Jack doesn't put a foot wrong in the media.  Becoming quite adept at giving honest but non-controversial answers.

I like the Swiss. I didn't find the Swiss rude and arrogant, rather the reverse. I judge people as individuals when I meet them. The French I have met and interacted with on recent trips to France have been great too. I don't really speak French either but I managed to learn about 50- 60 words or expressions to get me by.

You are to the swiss as saty is to the dees players

Our Daisy is panel member on AFL Game Day.  Not wearing her Demon gear...assume only guest players do but not panel members.

She reviewed the Port/Nth game.  Articulate, knowledgeable, confident and fair commentary.

Have seen her or Ch 7 pre game show and she was equally impressive.

Will probably become a Ch 7 regular and wish her well in the media (during the women's league off season).

This young lady will go places in the footy world when she hangs up her boots (after a Dees premiership:cool:).

Edit:  Reckon she would do a better job calling a football game than BT, Darcy et al!!

Switzerland    beautiful scenery but as boring as some posters posts

As for the French      use the Canadian example   they could have had French Culture, English Administration and American know how,  instead they got French administration, American culture and English know how

Daisy  shows Bec Madden how it should be done, but then again she didn't have to put up with those 2 misogynist clowns Newman and Brownlesd

Swooper Northey hour long interview tonight with Finey 1116 SEN. Not sure the exact start time. Somewhere around 8 - 9pm probably

My all time fav coach of the mighty Demons. Old but not old enough to have witnessed the Red Fox at work ?

I saw Ch9 ads saying Max will debut as a Footy Show panelist, on Thursday night.

Not sure I can cope with TFS rubbish but might channel surf to see the Max sections.

He is on now SW ...and yes he certainly was that. Best times i ever had supporting this club.

Jack V will be a guest on the Ch9 football show, sometime in the next hour.

Comments form Jack:

  • Club went into game trying to prove ourselves against the Hawkes but we still have plenty to prove (over next 3 weeks).
  • He had Max have great chemistry and know what they are going to do before they do it.
  • Changes in Jack W:  he was always being positive around the club, has always worked hard.  Has gone to another level.  Doing a lot of work helping young players.  Players love his positivity.
  • Even contribution over the field but good to see leaders stand up.
  • Fan of Pokemon Go.

Nothing especially new but love seeing him represent our club so well and with such pride.

...and commentators think Max is a lock for (official) AA.

Those who are subscribed to Fox Footy will know that this week is “Player Takeover” round where the players essentially host and/or strongly feature in the regular programs such as On the Couch and AFL360.

It’s a gimmick concept but one thing I noticed when the list of players that will feature this week was shown. Melbourne has by far the highest representation of players: Gawn, Jones, Lewis, Oliver and Hogan. Five in total. The next highest was three players and from there it was either two or one player from the remaining clubs.

It wasn’t that long ago that Jones would’ve been the only viable candidate for an exercise like this.

The wheel is definitely turning.

Is there anyway of knowing when each will be on?

Pleased to see Petracca isn't featuring - will be good for him to lie low for a while.

That wasn’t listed other than Jonesy hosting On the Couch tonight along with Dangerfield and Phil Davis.

Must say, what a fantastic conversation between 3 really interesting and different players. If only the mainstream “boys club” could be like this. Healy doing a brilliant job engaging all panelists in an insightful way. Big tick Fox Footy.

I couldn’t agree more, I enjoyed it a lot more then I thought I would.  All very impressive. I hope Jones had a chat to Phil Davis, would love him in our backline with Lever.

I don't see Max Gawn listed in the above article, he was listed as one of our five players on the list that On the Couch showed? Whatever show he pops up on would be amusing to watch. ?

Bit of a step up from back in the late 90s where you'd have to hang out for Demon Radio on Sport 927.

Now that does take me back.

Demon Radio takes me back to some of my fondest memories of the Daniher years.

Agree with that. I thought it was an enlightening discussion on all topics and found myself liking Davis and Danger.  Some strong comments by the boys, especially Danger’s “ farcical” when commenting about the fixture.

Yep really enjoyed it, liked danger giving mrp a backhander over some of the rediculous fines getting dished out, Jones gave him a big hug

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
