Not sure if it has been mentioned on here yet, on the radio yesterday the commentators thought once Dawes has some match time under his belt bring him back and try him in defence. He is a big fella that can take a grab and he knows where to go could be the change he may need, worth a shot? Fingers crossed for hurley at seasons end

I thought the idea of putting him back was so that he didn't have to stick the concrete mitts in the air, but rather punch it away? Dawesy seems like a genuinely great guy, but watching him trying and take the ball out in front is one of the most agonising things about watching footy.

What about a bloke we already have on the list - tallish big strong body, runs all day premiership CHF... C Dawes. If the Weed comes on, Dawes only hope would be to retrain his mindset and become a gorilla minder - should his body hold up

Mentioned this a week or so back and thought about a couple of weeks back.

Becoming a KPD is his only chance at staying in the game - at least at our club. He has the size, tank, is rarely beaten in a contest - doesn't clunk them much but neither do his opponents.

Give him a run there at Casey while returning to fitness, he will need a big mindset change but should be able adapt to it. It has merit and should be done - if nothing else will give a bloke who has busted his nut while we were shyte an opportunity to continue in a better side. He won't be as bad as Fitzy!

Kieren Collins wouldve been the answer had we not flittered away a pick on Melksham. Not sure where to now. Hogan would be the leagues most promising back if played there - but is also an invaluable forward for us. We still havent replaced Frawley.

Maybe, but let's not experiment with this at AFL - if it is tried for a few weeks at Casey and it works, then yes, maybe.

Lovely sentiments re Dawes. He would always be a poor man's FB compared to a real one.

Let's find the best players to carry out the roles. Not bend roles to employ players.

McDonald and Frost, with OMac, Wagner and Garland to plug whichever holes required each week. That also allows us to play Pedersen as the 3rd forward until Weideman is ready to make an impact.

No.

Play Sm Frost down back.  Unlike Dawes who would be a disaster down back, Frosty he has all he tools to play there.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
