The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here

The AFL's media is too rude, intrusive and offensive to have not gotten a whiff of Hogan leaving.  If players are talking about it at the BnF and ex-freo board members are sharing it around, how have Barrett, Stevens, Wilson and co. not received the news plastered the walls with it?  Three weeks ago we were howling down GNF for saying Hogan was staying; the general gist of this was that "of course he is, it was quoted in an article- this isn't anything new!"  Now we are attacking Hogan on the back of a player's reported ''gut feel'' and a poster saying he'd heard from someone who used to be on the board at Fremantle.  The sources on all sides are very, very weak.

We always complain the media is ready to sink the boot into us... so where are they?  Why aren't they running the articles they did about Scully, Frawley and Howe leaving??  This thread sprung to life on the back of two pretty vague posts.

(And it's not Saty that derails threads, it's the 12 regulars who jump on everything he says.)

Forums are like a smorgasbord, some things you like some things you're ambivalent about and then there is that horrid rubbish best left alone (coleslaw) Don't get me wrong I have tried coleslaw and at it's best it is edible. Saty can be like coleslaw,  Stuie like pickled haggis, ProDee like elgbaer or BBO kottbuller. Forgive me for I digress, If you don't like a poster you are free to ignore them, if you engage you have to live with the aftertaste. Some coleslaw is OK

Yeah thats what I've thought. Perhaps he genuinely hasn't made up his mind, because aside from Langdon and Hardie bleating across the border (Note that Gossage is convinced he is staying at Melbourne so they cancel each other out) no journo seems to know one way or another.

I guess we should know by trade period starting.

History would say there is definitely no point. Reasoning with Saty is about as productive as reasoning with a bloke on a street corner wearing his underpants on his head. There are some valiant attempts but they will always be stonewalled.

That's not to say that relaying content to the players is clearly crossing a line. Nothing will come of it. Nothing ever does with old Saty. He's the only poster who as far as I can tell has a free pass to do pretty much what he likes. All because he used to post training threads recounting stories of players winking at him. Anyone else would've surely been banned several times over by now.

How Curry and Luded have been given their marching orders while Saty continues to survive, only admin would be able to answer. The first two had their faults but they at least had some sort of interest in contributing constructively to the forum. Saty openly hates the place and tries to shut down any thread or discussion that doesn't involve pom pom waving.

And then, the best kicker of all, claims he doesn't really care about footy. Doesn't care about the club having success. It's just the players who will pose for a gun pic that he cares about.

The whole thing is completely stark raving bonkers. But at this stage it's hard not be entertained by the absurdity of it.

Does he really think the most committed player on our list (Direct quote from Roos) needs reminding to stay in shape?

For those that have no interest in anonymous keyboard warriors trading schoolyard insults, what are the latest rumours on Hogan? One player thinks he's going, anything else since the B&F?

It was more the comment on Jack's sex life that concerned me!

Probably a bit over the top now guys, might be worth deleting the last couple of pages mods?

The news I got at the best and fairest, from another of our players who was tight with jesse-

He was absolutely staying until about July. Since then he's gotten homesick and is more likely to leave than stay. This player said it's his gut feeling he will make that known at the exit meetings, which will be had after Casey finish the finals.

To sum up...

'Generation dee'  has said a player told him that he thinks Hogan is heading back interstate.

Couple of things...

One is the "Chinese Whisper" effect

...another is how does a player with a gut feel then go on to say Hogan will make it known at the exit interviews, that's a pretty big gut feel.

The sums don't add up, "Chinese Whisper"?

'GNF' has said Hogan will sign within 6 months. Do you trust 'GNF' and his inside information?

I hope you're not in cahoots with 'GNF' 'Generation dee', you've given him a big out if Hogan goes.

No out there for GNF, if 'Gen dee' is proven to be correct. Quite the opposite.  The 'Gen dee' reference was that Jesse was planning to stay, up until July when the homesickness set in.  If so, its hard to see how GNF's claim in early August that Jesse had committed to the club was valid.

'Gen dees' info coincides with when the media started reporting that Jesse was waivering on whether to stay or go.  In the last month Roos has several times deflected questions about Jesse and offered no optimism re him staying, in fact each time talked about family and the lure of home for Jesse.

There is more info alluding to Jesse leaving than there is to him staying.

Whose info to trust?  No idea.  We will all just have to wait.

So the Footy club has advised them not to read demonland but you go ahead and tell Jesse whats said about him.

And this is exactly why you are a i diot. Are you proud to be going against club orders?

Look Dazzle I don't much like Saty's approach to this stuff but you, as cheerleader for the mafia, seems to take every opportunity to jump on him, and I don't much like you for that either.  This endless brainless debate you and others continually have with him is uninformative and boring in the extreme but sadly from time to time you and he have really good things to offer.  Why the [censored] can't you and the rest of the mafia just ignore Saty and let the rest of the of the forum get on with the uninformed and speculative debate we usually have at this time of year about trades, drafting and delisting.

Of course this post is probably just another fruitless attempt to stop the bickering and "you said I said" crapp that will continue to polute this site.  Saty you're probably the only one who can stop it because you are one and they are many.  Please help us mate, we're sick of it and it will only hurt those that are genuinely interested in the useful information you offer.

If he left this year and it were to Fremantle, their first round pick this season and first round pick for next season.

Please spare me any talk of exchanging him with Fyfe.

No mate, nothing like that. Just passing on some off the record info.

For what it's worth, and the various analysis and over analysis, this player told me the news suggesting that was how he assumed it was going to play out. No one else listened, there wasn't a big forum, no lip reading was needed. Purely his take on the situation based on what he has seen and heard from jesse. If he stays, he stays, if he goes, I imagine it will be this year and we maximise our position with freo and west coast.

Won't happen. He is WA born and bred, Essendon are the new Collingwood in that everyone is linked to them.

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
