Wouldn't it be great if it was announced he is staying at tonight's B & F?

I wonder how a few wrist slashers will back pedal out of their constant criticism of Hogan...

No problem with that. In fact a good opportunity. But let's see what happens.

You know something, don't you?

I think he's going to announce his retirement tonight.

Apparently going to try his hand as a professional surfer with Harmsy

The time has come for me to jump at shadows, which I usually don't do.

Jesse just posted a photo (big grin, btw) on instagram with a couple of other players, all suited up. His hashtag was #staytuned... could Redleg's idea that it might be announced tonight be on the money?

Probably not, but whatever...

After seeing him after the RS last year, I reckon he is just cooked already.

Would be unreal if so but think it's more likely to be stay tuned as in expect more photos/reports as the night goes on

Wonder if he'll get a hold of the microphone a la Fevola?

I want Hogan to stay 100%.  We are rising and I am confident we will breakthrough next year into the Top 8.

But if he does decide to go back to WA (to Freo)... whats the currency? two first round picks. Freo pick 3 in 2016 and first round in 2017?    a lottery !!

I agree... sign Jesse for 5 years to 2022 ($750,000 a year) and announce it at the MFC B&F night. ?

He is normally very tight lipped about anything on social media.. but the #staytuned is verrrrrrry interesting!!

no. If he read Demonland and the rubbish we talk about then he is an imbecile.

What role did he play in the Hawthorn win this year or Geelong last year? Hope he stays but if not milk it for all its worth and move on to success without him.

He didn't play in those two games

he has been far and away out best forward over the past two years though. And in his first two seasons.

My tip is from 23 to 28 he will be the best fwd in the comp

Can't help thinking he may have held us back this year.

That's because you can't help but think ridiculous thoughts.

Anyone else sick of the Jesse Hogan saga? So much so that I am getting sick of Jesse himself. If he does not sign soon and dispel all the doubts I will actively dislike him. And if he leaves for more money my dislike will turn to a much stronger force. And it will not be love.

To be fair to Jesse though Ernest, how much of the saga is due to Jesse himself and how much of it is to do with the hand-wringing of anonymous internet posters? He's done exactly as he said he would at the start of the year, waited to discuss it til the season finished.

Yes Ernest I say sign before Christmas or f...off to Freo or where ever. We don't need another year of conjecture and the fact is our forward line has played better without him for some of our unexpected wins at Geelong and against The Dorks so there is life without Jesse and on form this season his price must have dropped.

He isn't even in the last year of his contract.

I say cut the young man some slack

Harsh mate. If he isn't signed by round 1 2017 then you can rip into him, but I've got faith the club will sort this out one way or another by the trade period.

Maybe he expected to win a top 5 or other Award...  Reality check if he did.

I thought his position on the BnF was about right.

Just saw that.

Saty probably told him about us and our atrocious behaviour, whilst giving him a back rub.

He changed his mind again.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
