I found the last few lines of the article interesting and something to contemplate.

Roos said what role he would play at the club next year – if any – was yet to be decided.

Roos will hand the reins to Goodwin at the end of this season.

“It is something that we briefly touched on last year – (CEO) Peter (Jackson) and I and (football manager) Josh Mahoney.

“But now that the season has started we are all really focused on finishing out the year strongly, coaching out the year right to the line.”

“At this stage there hasn’t been any further discussion about that.”

Is there a role for Roosy post 2016 or should the handover be complete?

He's done a fantastic job for the footy club but i don't think her will have any formal role past this year, Goodwin needs the clear air to make his own mark.

The elephant in the room(?): the success of succession plans upon the occurrence of unexpected degrees of success, imminently or actually (the 'black-and-white' experience circa 2010?)

(I may just have committed the Demonland equivalet of harikiri with this post? Even if only by comparing Malthouse (ptui!) and Roosy)

(p.s. In my suicidal post above there would likely be a roll of Roosy and certainly no role for him)

Firstly, thank you Paul Roos and Peter Jackson for getting this club, the list and all associated to this point and further.

As if, in the initial discussions to get Paul Roos to the MFC, he wasn't  offerred a long term view. Yeh we'll pay $x,xxx, xxx dollars over 3 years and after that you can sit back and be say Director of Coaching for the next umpteen years whilst the well off MFC Coterie members will have you complimentary helicopter skiing in the French Alps every Aussie summer!

Jackson & Roos have earned the right to decide their future.

That is Roos speak for "yes we've agreed upon a role but now is not the time, within the broader strategy, to define it"

He's in the trenches with us for sure.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
