I noticed this and thought it was just as dirty. Pushing a bloke square in the back running full tilt typifies the kind of stuff the Abletts, Hodges and Mitchells get away with on a regular basis.

There was talk on the radio from commentators that they could see May and the Suns using the push as a defence.  If they do, I hope the Tribunal doesn't fall for that crap.

Bit tough on Gary. I don't think he deliberately pushed Martin, thinking that May would jump and KO him. Hodge and Mitchell might.

They can try, except that May ran past the ball and jumped into the air, hitting Martin flush on the face, with real force, knocking him out. Its only a matter of how many weeks.

I don't think he intended to push him into May, but he'd lost the contest and did deliberately push him square in the back, which meant that Martin was off balance and had no way to defend himself.

Just watched the replay again and I have no doubt Ablett saw May incoming and he pushed Martin into May.

Are you suggesting that Gary should be charged as an accessory to the incident?

I just watched it again on the back of your post and I believe you are 100% correct in your thoughts...

Ablett's intentions are obvious!

I think WADA should at least investigate the incident :)

No. It was merely my observation of the incident.

Ablett pushed Martin in the back directly towards an incoming May. Unless Ablett had his eyes closed he would have seen May.

I'm not suggesting Ablett read May's mind and knew he was going to flatten Martin the way he did.

Again, this season is going to be the most even in a very long time.

Absolutely agree. Ahead of today's games, there is one game separating first through ninth on thr ladder, 1 game between ninth and 16th, and one between tenth and the wooden spoon.

My tip is from about 5th to 16th will be very close. Even for a side like Hawthorn, winning those two close games the past two weeks will be incredibly beneficial.

Totally off topic but thought I'd share what I just heard on the radio in this $hithole of a town in Adelaide....

Pre-game show with Kane Cornes...

Kane - "There is a huge hatred between GWS & Port due to their tactics against our captain, Boak over the years... although having said that, the biggest instigator is now gone"

Co-host - "Who was that?"

Kane - "Thomas Bugg will forever be one of the most disliked footballers by this current crop of Port players"

HAHAHA! That is so nice to hear as a Melbourne person!  We finally have another cnut :)

Kane then went on to say - "The biggest danger Port have put a heap of time into today is Tom Scully... He is finally starting to show what he is capable of now that he has put some more meat on his frame... I remember when I first played against him at Melbourne, I came off the ground and told Boaky that this kid is a running machine and easily the hardest runner I have played against"

:( Not so nice to hear as a Melbourne person!

Oh well, just thought I'd share a bit of chatter from the airwaves over here regarding the Dees!

Stevie J looks like he has his cranky pants on. For some reason, I hope GWS upsets Port.

Wouldn't of though it would be an upset if the Giants were to win.

It will upset the natives over here in Adelaide so that will do me :)

Having said that, the match last night here was an absolute corker!

Port have me stumped, so much talent, real lack of urgency.

I said it all preseason - Why do people rate Port? They have a horrendous game plan that is so easily exploited.

Because when they're on they're on. I will admit I got them wrong this year, I had them top 4, today's game was their chance for me. Very hard to put money on to them.

Upset? GWS were rightly favourites and the final leg of a handy little multi for me.

Port are in trouble. They look no better than they did last year.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
