Petracca and Oliver will be stealing Brownlow votes from each other.

That's my only concern.

Herein is the problem Biffen: Viney, Salem, Brayshaw, T. MacDonald, Vanders and Hogan will all have to "tank" if they are to have half a chance. Let's also hope Weideman doesn't get a game this year.

Edit. There is another small problem also with N. Jones, Gawn, Tyson and Vince. This is the dilemma with depth, something we didn't have when Stymes or Woewodin won theirs.

And many of those appearances were half games due to being sub.

No doubt he looked like he had it in his first year. But he has not only stagnated, he has actually gone backwards. Big year for him.

I think it is more the case of him being overrated by many on here in the first place.

He hasn't stagnated unfortunately he is another one of those players who has had a run of niggling little injuries he is now fully fit had his zip back yesterday managed to tackle Trac and get a holding the ball  so not all that bad

He's still contracted until 2017. He's played 22 games and kicked 13 goals, which in my book is doing quite well for a young, undersized player picked at #40 in the draft after two years in the system.

empathy nice,  but loses finals games when applied to list management.  Creates disappointment down the track.

Yes he's doing well to be on an afl list,  but surely we aren't here for that reason.

JKH is small,  not overly fast,  & needs more tricks to make the grade.  He needs to win more ball & be damaging with it.

I strongly disagree. Go back and watch his first season, and there was plenty to like. I thought he has always lacked the top end speed, but had plenty of smarts and was such a tidy kick. But for whatever reason, injury, confidence, whatever, he was a better player that year than he is today.

JKH was also coming back from an injury incurred in the pre season so I'll cut him some slack but I was personally disappointed with him yesterday. I suspect that with the form of Garlett, Kent and Harmes, the likely return to the side of Jack Trengove and the impending debut of Christian Petracca, JKH has his work cut out to get into the team.

He showed glimpses 'Forest' and then so many were in raptures about him.

One of his big pluses was that he worked his a... of in his first preseason and was rewarded for that, it seems he has been frustrated with injury since.

One of the big minuses is that at his height he lacks top end speed plus his decision making and kicking is a bit hit and miss.

...but at the end of the day he is a kid trying to find his way, maybe he will, maybe he won't.

Yes, he showed glimpses, but that is as much as you can expect from a first year player. He was on his way to being a handy player. But today, there aren't even glimpses. Anyway, let's hope he gets going.

Thanks for link Jack. Good article on how some of our NQRs (Injury wise) are going .

Trenners even mentions the progress of Petracca. Says he's putting his best "foot" forward. Surely he means "Toe"?

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
