Article of AFL app states Watts was keen to be part of Melbourne's future but wants to explore his free agency options. Here's an idea, try performing consistently for, I don't know let's say 3 games in a row. Sorry Jumbo but Watts your free to go, you can take Grimes and Garland with you. Then and only then will the list be fully turned over.

Wow, BA, you've stirred up a hornet's nest on a hot afternoon!

Nah, he'll stay and....he will be a difficult match up...3rd tall, sensational pace...great hands.

One thing Watts can't be criticised for is his love of the club. I have never seen a happier player after a win and I have heard in several interviews how Jack contributes to morale - is always upbeat and lightens the atmosphere around the place. I think he is highly likely to stay if offered a reasonable deal.

Jack Watts, contrary to him being the no 1 draft pick is not the messiah ( he is a just a very naughty boy)

Good, this means hes playing for a big contract and may just have a huge 2016

Or he will have a year like Howe in 2015 and do the bare minimum and still get a nice deal from another club.

The players all say they love Wattsy, don't know why they would say it if they didn't mean it.  So he has the support of the players, if he plays consistantly like he did on Sunday i would love to have him in our team, but if he plays like he has for the last few years, bye bye Jack, you will be missed for your encouraging words not your soft shell.

I think Watts and Howe are made of entirely different fabric.......one's synthetic,, the other a decent cloth  ^_^

Read the article....I was looking for the bit where he talks about his dissapointing form over the last couple of years and how he feels as though he owes the club for everything they've done for him. He could then go onto say after some strong showings in NAB challenge 1 and 2 he feels this could be his breakout year and the thought of free agency hadn't even entered his mind.

He only stays at the MFC if he earns the right to, if he leaves, probably means we don't want him.

Careful now Pete, don't want to go against the grain.

So the Media God bless em have moved on from poor Hogan to Watts. They probably don't want him to sign now. What a joke

God forbid Melbourne ACTUALLY get up off its knees and become successful !!   The very idea must be worrying to some

If only we had a player who didn't look as happy as Watts or as grumpy as Garland.

A just between facial expression would be perfect for demonlanders.

Definitive statement about how he wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Token line about considering the free agency process.

And this is the headline they create.

Bad enough from an independent media company, but pure drivel from the AFL's own media department.

"But with the way Melbourne are looking at the moment, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else to be honest."

Fellow forward Jesse Hogan has delayed contract talks with Melbourne until the end of 2016, despite two-years still left to run on his current deal.

Watts was unsure whether he too would join Hogan in holding off negotiations but said his immediate priority was focusing on his on-field performances.

"I haven't really thought about that to be honest," he said.

"I'll let it play out. I wouldn't mind playing some reasonable footy first and then speak to the club and get something sorted hopefully."

Humility, right priorities, and an intention of loyalty.

Not bad considering it seems like the conversation only happened because it was brought up by a journo.

In fact, it seems to be precisely what anyone would have wanted to hear from Watts.

And yet... someone always finds something to sook about.

Nah, if they did that they'd be people on here complaining that the players were spiritless, couldn't care less or something.

Absolute rubbish post by someone who has made no secret of being a Watts hater.

From the actual article:

Watts wouldn't rule out a move at season's end, but said he was keen to be a part of Melbourne's future.

"I think I was on the scrapheap a couple of weeks ago, and then all of a sudden you play a couple of good games and people start talking about you," Watts said on Tuesday.

"I'm sure I'll look at [free agency] during the year and speak with my manager and the club.

"But with the way Melbourne are looking at the moment, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else to be honest."

Did you think people would just take your word for it and not read the article? Did you think you could sway people into ignoring the facts and thinking the same as you?

I'm fairly sure that the AFL media department essentially run as an independent entity within the AFL.

Therefore they're no better than anyone else.

I have it on good authority that the club haven't open discussions yet with Jack as he's been smiling too much at training.....

Yeah and to put that into context, here's the very next line: "But with the way Melbourne are looking at the moment, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else to be honest."

What a troll thread. Should be renamed or deleted. Pathetic attempt to slander a player you constantly bag BA.

Nope... can't think of it.....

You're not trying very hard. He could turn water into wine; he could walk on water; he could feed the multitudes with just a few loaves and fish...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
