Was there any training (for today-Monday 11 Jan)?

Thanks Bob. There's enough there to fill three or four threads here but most of the answers are fairly obvious as touched upon by you. Times change, methods and technology change, peoples' shapes and sizes change.  Unfortunately, our club has been pretty much slow on the uptake because like many of the places we visited, we've been run like a banana republic in the past 5 decades. One thing is for certain, there's no such thing as the Norm Smith Curse - our problems have all been man made (or should I say) person made.

My optimism now stems mainly from the fact that we appear to have stability at the top these days.

Sage words Jack and thanks for your response and I agree with you that there is no such thing as the Norm Smith Curse, but it does strike me as odd that from the time he left we seem to have endured a rare and rather vile run of bad luck.  Or am I just being paranoid?

I remember Collingwood got the indigenous members of our great country to do some sort of dance to rid Collingwood of the curse they endured over the Winmar incident and they won a couple of flags in the time we've not tasted that finest of experiences but I'm not sure if the "dance" was before or after their 1990 flag - one we should really have won IMHO.

Are you aware of any equivalent ritual that we could use to just make sure that Norm isn't up there having a good old belly laugh at our expense?  I reckon you might have picked up something in your recent trip to the Caribbean, I reckon you might have been into a bit of that stuff!

Dees training at Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex on Fishermans Road, Maroochdore on Sunshine Coast this Saturday 16th January. Last year it was a 9.00 am Q time start. TBA on MFC website. Anyone know more details ?

Just got this email response from the club for all those interested.

=======================================

Thank you for your email and support of the Club.

We only just received your enquiry as our office was closed for the Christmas and New Year period so please excuse our delayed response.

The session will take place this Saturday 16 January at the Maroochydore Multi Sports Complext on Fishermans Rd from 9.00am. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet the players after the session and we’ll also have a BBQ as well as our mascot Checker for the kids.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any more queries about the session.

We look forward to seeing you there!

We spent a wonderful day on the island of Tobago - a land where Bob Marley is still revered to this very day, so I get where you're coming from. However, while I'm sure one of our well connected coterie  members might be willing to shell out some big bucks to conduct one of those smoky chicken sacrifice rituals to exorcise our demons, it's not really my thing.

Sad to say, Melbourne has traditionally been the slowest club to adapt to changing rules and environment.  Even going back to the first legal player payments, who was the only club who insisted that playing for the jumper was enough?

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
