Dustin Martin - total [censored]

Featured Replies

Regardless of what happened if

Dustin had spent the day at Stereosonics he would have been totally off his box and in no state to be in a restaurant.

Did a few Dance parties a few years back

3 strikes for sure.

Is not threatening anyone with GBH a criminal offence?  Is he excused because he is an AFL player, because he was drugged or drunk, or just because, despite  all the political gobbledygook about violence against women being unacceptable, nobody gives a stuff?

anyway, tsfka, thanks for all the extra info and a bit of context

despite stuie's moral coaching, we are adult enough to form our own opinions

The NRL doesn't lead the way to often with regards to anything but from memory earlier this year they stood down/delisted a player due to violence against his then girlfriend.

Hey Song, looks like you fell into Stuipids trap and gave him a platform to vituperate yet again.

If the AFL don't give a penalty that is harsh enough then I am sorry to say they are no better than a certain organisation who were covering up certain problems by sending them to my primary school

Everyone knows what he is.... Just deal with it properly and reap the benefits of being known as a decent organisation!

A friend of mine knows the owners of the bar, which is actually a japanese restaurant/bar thing.

The female involved did far more to provoke the situation then the media reported, much more.

Had a very "hot", running mouth and works in the media and sprouted so, whilst insulting Dusty for the form he was in as soon as he entered the building basically, which led to what he did. Still, all that aside, his "chopstick reaction" was not warranted and deserves to be punished.

I really don't see the point of this post. For starters it's 4th hand info, and the only version that's contrary to what's been reported, which hasn't been refuted by Martin.

The fact that the woman works in the media and told Martin that she would be calling the club is irrelevant. Your terminology of "sprouted" suggests that she instigated the episode.

The only thing the owners should be concerend about is their liquor license rather than trying to character assassinate the woman who had the guts to speak up to an obnoxious drunk. The bar management were clearly gutless for continuing to serve Martin.

The problem with your post is that it's all chinese whispers and not a direct quote from anyone present. Where the owners present, or did they get a version of events from staff? The statement above reeks of the owners/staff trying apportion the blame, when they were actually part of the problem.

is this really still going? Read my posts about it, and the other D'land members posts about my posts, which was me just giving extra information that i know for others to formulate an opinion. Do not quote, or reply to me about this issue anymore.

What a pathetic response by TSFA. You throw something out there that has no veracity, clearly worded to denigrate the woman involved, and purport it as "extra information". Apart from Stuie, the other posters are merely commenting on your conjecture.

Collingwood's strong action against Heath Shaw and Alan Didak on the eve of the 2008 was said by many to be the making of the club as a premiership team just two years later.

The Tigers might want to reflect on that when they complete their investigation of Martin's conduct and I'm sure the AFL will be an interested party as well given the number of women who attend the football.

You only need to look at the problems soccer is suffering as a result of the alienation of certain supporter groups to realise the potential danger to the game if the issue is treated in a less than serious fashion.

Do you mean your post where you said her "hot running mouth" "led to what he did"?

No-one commenting on this and making assertions as to what happened and drawing conclusions .....was actually there. What do we know? There was an altercation between a football star with  past misbehaviours who was under the influence of something and a media flunky ....and we have a story which will run for days and draw opinion pieces from the football media. God almighty we have wars, innocent civilians being blown apart by terrorists, famine across the world, a flood of dispossed refugees fleeing war, widespread violence and racism on a massive scale, the world as we know it threatened by climate change and the extinction of species every day. Go out on the streets of Melbourne and talk to the homeless, dispossed, jobless, and indeed poverty stricken folks who have nothing. And over the next few days the media will be obsessed by the misbehaviour of a footballer.

I don't think the Tigers have the capacity let alone intestinal fortitude.

They were star struck by Harley Bennel and obviously saw it as beneficial to use Martin as an appropriate player to try and get him to the RFC.

Their values are eroding before the publics eyes.

Or ask the 60+ women who have been murdered so far this year... Or do you not think that's a problem worth considering?

1 murder male or female is definitely too many

but i must have missed something. did martin murder someone?

Yeah you're right of course, physically intimidating a woman and threatening to kill her is in no way related to the growing problem of violence against women....

'stuie', you're one for the facts so how about you tell us the full story here. There are more than a couple of men and kids that have been killed by females this year. I saw a post this morning and the figures were quite surprising, I don't know if they are real so I won't post.

What I do know is that violence is a big issue and getting bigger, I also know it's not gender specific despite what the media and politician bandwagoners would have us believe.
