Josh Mahoney is about to be on SEN.

Most likely going on trumpet the merits of the Melksham deal;

Hopefully Ox actually gives him a bit of a grilling about the Howe for steak knives Kennedy plus a pick deal.

Mahony just stated that Ben Kennedy WILL NOT be part of the Howe deal. wow

Also said he thinks Howe is worth 1st-2nd round pick

He is very angry with Howe or his manager.

Also said he thinks Howe is worth 1st-2nd round pick

Sounded pretty non-commital. Low 1st or high second round pick was my read...

that would be great. Just said he thinks the Jeremy Howe deal will be done this week. Great to hear

Ongoing discussions with Toumpas' management and Port Adelaide regarding potential trade.

Interestingly, JM said that if Toumpas stated that he wanted to stay at MFC they would be keen to keep him - sounds like he wants out too...

Unequivocally Dawes is not part of any trade talk. (Unfortunate in the opinion of this scribe)

Same goes for Watts - absolutely no talk aside from media speculation.

So does this mean Kennedy will be a seperate deal or he wont come here at all?

On NAB Trade Radio:

Jeremy Howe: "We were a fair way down the path with Gold Coast, but he's nominated Collingwood." Mahoney says flipping Gold Coast's pick 3 for the Dees' pick 6 had been on the table. "We'll start speaking to Collingwood now to see what a trade will look like".

Jake Melksham: "We wanted to get the deal done, he was a guy we targeted at the start of Trade Period". Got him for pick 25 to Essendon.

Ben Kennedy: "At this stage we see his trade being separate to Howe's deal."

Dion Prestia: "He's a talented player and anyone who's out of contract and talented we'll target."

So does this mean Kennedy will be a seperate deal or he wont come here at all?

Yes. Mahoney said the same thing on Trade Radio as well.

Clearly he is not happy that Howe wants to go to the Pies. With their picks probably locked up in the Treloar deal it makes things difficult.

Not sure why he'd be so angry. Trading is a two way street. Howe flagged his intentions last year when he asked about the Pies after the Giants offer. GC were offering something we want, Collingwood less so, Just because he want's to go to the Pies doesn't mean we have to trade him to the Pies, he can take a chance in the PSD.

2016 1st round pick and Kennedy for Howe?

I don't like this future draft picks trading, but we can't get much more from them given they are trying to get Treloar.

don't blame him he is being asked to listen to more rubbish from pies - it would be exhausting.

True. I think the Howe deal will depend on what the Pies give up for Treloar.

I wonder if the club will aim to pry a different player loose in this deal. We might ask for a good player while also still talking to GC about a deal as well to put pressure on the Pies.

Obviously the club has it's eye on Pick 3, and probably Parish, and Howe has screwed us over.

Just say next years 1st rounder or he goes pre-season

take it or leave it

If Gold Coast offered 3 and 19 for Howe and 6 and the Pies offer Kennedy and 26 for Howe then to be honest I'd take that.

We can beat around the bush all week but that's not a bad deal.

The Pies will offer 26 and Kennedy for Howe and 43. That's not enough

we'll end up with steak knives and an ab-fab machine.

bloody marvelous.

JM also said he thought it would be done by tomorrow.

Maybe I heard it wrong but that sounds quick.

The Howe trade or the Kennedy trade?

The Howe trade or the Kennedy trade?

Howe as that's who they were talking about at the time.

Pretty sure it was the end of trade week, not tomorrow.

The pies have no picks to trade do they?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
