"The Age" online this afternoon reports that out-of-contract Melksham wants to depart Essendoom and the Dees are interested . Any intel on this ?

While we're at it, can someone please confirm the rumour I've heard that Ablett Jr has his eyes on a move from Geelong to the Gold Coast franchise?

Google it or somebody may post the link . Incidentally , i'm a bit pizzed-off I couldn't edit the obvious typo in the title with the "edit" function .

So you were being serious...

Sorry mate, thought this was a clever joke.

Even if this were a joke, how could you possibly think it’s a clever one?

Paige Cardona sums up the situation pretty well as Bomber fans are doing high 5s about Melksham's pending departure:-

Oh well... it will be up to the club and it's coaching team to prove everyone wrong. I'm not convinced but I'd love him to succeed just to stick it up Bomber fans everywhere!

Would be fartin hilarious if he kicks the winning goal next yr against th bumbers! Provided he's not suspended of course.

Didn't happen to see the O&K grand final at the rovers ground last weekend did you?

Refuse to deal with them Dees, let Melksham walk to the pre-season draft. Lets face it, no one will pick him before us with a 4 year deal contract terms attached.

Ones big fella. Cmon.

Lol. If your were on the losing side i feel for you mate..

His view:

"haha yeh not sad to see him go, but he could definitely do what Bernie did this yeah under roosy I reckon, has all the skills is a great kick its just all the little things that hold him back

yeh he has a very punchable face lol. Do you know what you're giving up for him? "

I said maybe packet of crisps...and maybe a mars bar if pushed but would laugh at coughing up a 1st rounder.

Dont think he'll be missed at Windy Hill somehow.

Only ones but I feel a two's brewing.

Odd thing to ask but thanks for your concern daz.

Cut me some slack ET.. trying to polish of a slab here with a few strange individuals watching, the last thing i need is someone pulling me up on my grammer!

Almost every Facebook and Twitter comment section is filled with Bombers supporters basically celebrating that he's out the door.

Hold your horses though mate, Henrietta Lumbago was on here not long ago saying he knows some girl who rates him, and therefore most Bomber supporters don't want him to go!

I can't believe this turn of events!!

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
