Trengove: "I will get back"

Featured Replies

Its not just the lack of speed, but he also needs to find more aggression. Hopefully his lack of speed can be put down to his injury. Also, I think motivational factors (proving doubters wrong) can translate into a more aggression - I know that has worked for Cotchin (Trengove is a similar guy).

Endurance will just as important as pace with the new restrictions on interchanging next year.

That's an excellent point as endurance is certainly one of his strengths.

Really? Trengove does NOT lack aggression. It's competitive and therefore appropriate, just the kind you want and he has in spades.

Kicking penetration as well.

Yep, good point. His kicking penetration dramatically dropped off didn't it. I had forgotten that. If he doesn't have a long leg (in god awful commentator speak) it will really impact on his effectiveness.

Close to my favourite player - think he is a gun. A number of peope have already posted that he is a natural footballer and that is his real strength. Bartel and Mitchell, Hazelby, Cross - all of them are slowish and most slower than Trenners. Speed is a great attribute but not an essential one.

He can mark and kick so well he belongs as a defensive forward. Yes, he totally lost kicking penetration on the run but his set shots were usually fine (with a few standout horrible exceptions).

But someone who can read the play, mark well, offer leadership, and tackle like a beast - a few more of his type would be fine.

It's a fine line between constructive discussion about a player's weaknesses, and blatantly making stuff.

In the same way that the Grand Canyon is a fine line.

Have you forgotten the glorious tackle on Dangerfield. There was a little bit of aggression in that! Watch the second tackle as well.

It would be one hell of a comeback if he could get back on the park and reach his initial form.

He is coming from a long way back. 2 years is a hell of a lot of mileage to miss.

I dont think he will be able to, but am more than happy to be wrong.

I reckon he will. Trenners is something special.

He's more of a natural athlete than most of the blokes on our list.

Apart from his bloody foot I reckon he'll re-adapt to the training loads and his body will stand up to them.

I think we'll all be cheering our lungs out if he gets back onto the MGC in a red and blue jumper.

Keep pushing hard Trenners, would love to see you busting your tail from the midfield into the fwd line taking a mark and slotting one from the pocket.

Hope his return match isn't an away game then! OMG I hate those white monstrosities.

But, jokes aside, he is one hell of a determined guy and he deserves (an often overused expression) some joy and success.

Would this still get 3 weeks today?

There is a definite second movement but Dangerfield kicking the ball is what caused the twisting.

And he lays exactly the same tackle on the second player who just doesn't happen to hit his head.

Head injury 2 weeks + franchise player injured 1 week = 3 weeks. If not more now.

Depends on where the mrp's wheel of misfortune lands

With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
