GAME DAY - Round 19

Get up boys, it's unlikely but who knows ... we need Hogan to kick a bag which is entirely possible, I'm excited to watch them after last week ... keeping in mind that after the way we played last week not to expect too much this week ... come on dees:-)

Start well play hard here we go , Vandas is a big loss will have to play Wattsy higher as a link man. Go dees.

I would love nothing more than to dump North out of the 8, but I'm yet to see this Melbourne side back up a decent performance, so who knows.

Brent Harvey is a champion and an ornament to the game.

400 games is really an astonishing feat.

and he is a credit to himself and his family.

I am hoping he manages to have his nose spread across his ugly face today.

Something I would very much like to see.

By the looks of him that's already happened a few times!

I'll be rocking up again today without too much confidence. Which usually translates into a win....

I do think our forwardline can stretch them, particularly with Firrito out, we just need to get it in there enough times!

The AFL were giving out free tickets for Mulitcutural Round. However they failed to notify that you needed to print them out by Thursday. Well done AFL

Looks like we aren't going after all

Ouch.

Both the nose and the comment.

Somehow think jack viney also might like to see that bif

We can't make the finals but we can still do our part to keep North out of the finals too.Go Dees!

Hoges to have a breakout game......19 marks, 11 goals.

Just back from work and basically haven't slept for two days. Q. Do I sneak a couple hours now or just wait till half-time to hit the sack?

FINAL INTERCHANGES

Melbourne: Angus Brayshaw, Viv Michie, James Harmes
Substitute: Alex Neal-Bullen

North Melbourne: Shaun Higgins, Andrew Swallow, Ben Brown
Substitute: Aaron Mullett

Matt Jones starting on the ground....

North are very top heavy, we must exploit it.

No changes, ANB sub. I know Chunk has been battling the flu this week, hopefully it doesn't affect him too much.

Harmes should of been sub. Oh well.

Need to move the ball quickly today. Holding it and inevitably bombing it down the line won't work - Petrie, Goldstein, Brown etc will have a field day picking off the high ball.

And for the love of god, can someone just flatten Harvey? Fairly, unfairly, I don't particularly care.

Already talking margins on the Norf bigfooty board.

God, if we are to win one game for the rest of the year, please let it be this one.

Jamar is out on the ground warming up and taking plenty of shots at goal. Late change?

And the club just posted a picture of Stretch "getting in the zone". I'm so confused

mmm.....

Don't the team sheets with any changes get submitted 90 minutes before the game? We've been listed as no change with ANB as sub.

We need to move the ball quickly today if we are going to be a chance....if we stop and prop every time we get the ball today we will be in trouble, let's make it easier on the forwards by getting the ball in their quickly and fluently...

Changes seem OK if someone is injured in warmup

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
