POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 18

Great win.

Vince really should be pushing AA this year. Plenty of other positives.

I have been a fan of Grimes' year so far, but he was poor today. Also, Michie was also poor when he finally got the opportunity.

Well bugger me....

Didn't see that coming...lol

Well done Dees

we should be swabbed !! (sorry )

What a ripper. When I arrive in Canberra, straight to the red and the replay! I've been a paid up member of the "Jack Watts negativity league", but he's improved hugely over the last 5 or 6 weeks... How was he today?

Go Dees!

See the POTY thread. He was great today.

We need to get Gawn signed up again. If he gets poached by Geelong or the Hawks I'll be furious.

Loving Gawn's form at the moment. Going to be a lot of good battles between him and Witts for many years. Liked Jack Watts' composure today. And love the fact how we kept faith in Nev and kept him around

So how do we lose to the Dons and saints!

Good win now back it up for the first time in a long time against another team we haven't beaten in a long time.

Looks like I'm going to the game next week to see us win 2 in a row.

Great game loved the fast ball movement but gosh I have concerns over VandenBergs kicking

Only Vandenberg?

Eddie was a broken man and we havent won since 2007 against the filth.

And a 6 goal win.

So good. So gooood!

Incidentally, how good was the tackle from Watts where he got the guy in a bear-hug and just held him off the ground? Should have been HTB, but the umps were their usual shite.

As good as the win was, we still made horrible, stupid, under 10s mistakes.

Roos coached well today, but at times he hasn't.

Loved Garlos reaction at the end of the game and then when waiting to walk off the ground the hug he gave Dunn was awesome.

It's almost entirely above the shoulders, I reckon. We just need to keep getting wins, whether ugly/indifferent/scrappy/impressive, and continue to eradicate the losing culture of the past.

Viney and Gawn are going to be stars.,.. our midfield will be very good in 2016

The emergence of Maxy is unreal

we've been schwabbed once before, bb, and that was enough for anyone

Thought we'd win that. Typical Melbourne. I'm loving the fact that at least 'typical Melbourne' means we win when all seems hopeless and lose when we should win. That was always bound to happen this season. I said we'd win between 6-8 games this year. We've won 6 now, so any wins from here are brilliant. Let's see if we can't break some other records like winning two in a row and winning at Etihad. And Bernie Vince, you're a star.

He no doubt already considers himself the best ruckman in the league

Was Eddie on TV or radio?

On Foxtel doing a Collingwood call with Daicos, Shaw and Straunie, was great to listen to it once we were on top.

So happy for the win and more so because it was over the Pies

Great win boys

Only thing better than beating the Pies in their home game is

Putting them out of the FINALS RACE

The Beer will taste SWWEEEEEEEEEEEETTTT TONIGHT AT Metricon!!!

If I run into Dion Prestia,i'll give him a wink ;

Was Eddie on TV or radio?

He was broadcasting Press Red For Ed in Fox Footy. A deliberately biased commentary of the game. I can't wait to watch his version. Was very quiet today. I was loving giving a bit of lip to all the Collingwood supporters around us.

Was Eddie on TV or radio?

Fos doing his wenker "press red of ed"

C'mon mate, can't even put it aside to enjoy the win?

We would have to be the most insufferable and ungrateful bunch of supporters sometimes. We beat the filth and the first thing you post is a negative.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
