Interesting (and disheartening) stat: the last 5 times a team has lost by 100+ points, 4 of 5 have come back the following week with a win (and the 5th was a draw).

Fortunately nobody at the club is taking this match lightly, especially against a team with as much pride as Essendon.

Wtf

We have lost by 100+ about 30 times in the last few years and never once did we win the following week

Does that mean if we lost by 100+ points every second week we'd have an 80% chance of winning every other week? On that basis we'd win about 10 games in the year but have a lousy percentage. I'd take that.

That was pretty much life under Dean Bailey. :P

Haha, clearly the stats gurus were quite selective in how far back they went to find this stat. No doubt a Bombers supporter clutching at straws. ;)

Apparently up to 6 changes at Essendon. Bugger, wanted to play the out of form duds from last week.

Laverde will likely debut though.

Is he any relation to the Carlton Harmes of days gone by?

I believe that he is the son of Wayne, who is famous for a "pretty spectacular goal assist" in a GF v Collingwood. And by the way people talk of a heavy ground this weekend - just have a look at the video of that game...that is heavy.

Looking at the weather I don't think we should be playing two ruckmen, you need one ruck and one pinch hitter to bring the ball to ground.

Does sound like Harmes is likely to debut, it's rare to upgrade someone and not play him that week.

There is a little bit of MFCS going on with me, ironically it's roles reversed though. Usually we're the ones coming in scrapping for some pride and dignity, the shoes on the other foot now.

Trouble is who would that be?? Junior Mc used to do it but he isn't playing. Cant think of anyone else,

Cooney will be out, according to Hird.

And you believe one word that that compulsive 'stranger to the truth' (as they say in parliament) would say?

Probably means that he is in.

Yeah....hope that they aren't bringing back the 'top ups' that did us in the preseason. :-((

I doubt that James is the son of Wayne. James grew up in a family of Dees supporters, including Mum and Dad.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
