I'd hate for us to drop the Essendon game in a fortnight because we play in Darwin next week.

Thats why i wouldnt be adverse to us resting a few..

So why would Hawthorn or North want to play us in Tassie instead of the MCG?

Not saying they would, but they may for the same reason Saints want to play a single home game in Wellington each year & Bulldogs one in Cairns and before them Richmond.

Sometimes the $ they'll make playing it somewhere outside the G is enough to sway.

Unless the AFL create a fair fixture where we have a chance at turning a profit on games (for instance home games against Carlton and Essendon more than once every 6 years) instead of home games against 7 of the 8 non-Vic clubs every year we have no realistic option.

In fact, we'd probably be better off selling another 2 games to NT to pocket an extra million and send our games against GWS, Freo, Port and WCE there every year.

I really don't think playing in Darwin has as big an effect as people think. We have lost after that game in past years mainly because we have lost a lot! It's just a cop out saying 'oh we lost because we had to play in Darwin the week before'.

I'm all for the NT partnership at the moment. It brings in a million dollars each year, so unless someone has a spare mill laying around each year to donate I doubt we will be changing it any time soon.

While the Hawthorn and North relationship with Tasmania is quite beneficial for both clubs, I'm quite glad that we're not one of the teams that are "in" down there. If the AFL wants to "create" a new team, which is likely at some stage in the future, the logical place would be Tasmania. The fact the North are one of the "poor" clubs, and that they already have some solid foundations down there, it would make it a lot easier for the AFL to shove them, if that's what they so desired.

Imagine if we were the ones playing a handful of home games down at Tassie over the past decade - all corners of the community would be calling for us to relocate. North, in my view, are only three poor consecutive seasons away from this being a strong possibility.

In regards to the Northern Territory experiment, I'm all for it. It's a financially rewarding thing for the club, so immediately gets a big tick from me. For many of the remote communities in the state, there is only one sport for them, that's the AFL. For kids to be able to see current players, it brings great joy to them, and I think that's fantastic. Does it see an increase in memberships from these areas? Doubtful, but looking at the crowd when we play at Darwin (or Alice), there would be an increase in merchandise sales. The added bonus is the community work that the club does - you only need to look at the clips of Trengove and Petracca to see how much the players actually enjoy doing it, and gives them a bit of a reality check at the same time.

Until we become relevant again, we have to put up with what we are dished out. We are mostly to blame for our current predicament, so we need to do the hard work and get back to relevance, then we can start asking for more. I'm hoping we may have more bargaining powers at the end of 2016.

I have had a look at our results of the 5 games played after we have played at Marrara Oval since we started playing there. The only two teams we have beaten during these 5 week periods are GWS and Gold Coast (2011 – 12).

I do understand that we have been a poor team over this journey but I do believe that playing there has had a significant impact on our results. These results directly affect our membership results the following year and probably have a far greater impact commercially than the payout we have been receiving.

I disagree and I think that most thinking supporters who watched the Petracca/Trengrove clip would think similarly to Billy.

As regards the suggestion that playing at the G would automatically gain us more members than Tassie/NT, nothing will budge the Dee followers amongst the MCG membership who are too tight to put their hands into their pockets for a MFC membership so no harm in trying an interstate experiment. In any case, as a MCC/MFC member, I actually enjoy watching us play interstate at a local pub full of MFC supporters (and that is as an East Melbourne resident)!

Every year it's the same everytime we play in NT a post come out about home games not at home. Everytime I see a post like this I almost hear Sonny and Cher singing "I got you babe"
