GAME DAY - Round 7

Featured Replies

Had a dream last night that we belted Hawthorn by 84 points. Lumumba kicked 6 goals and Spencer kicked 5. We got this!...maybe...yeah alright, probably not.

Get mum to wash the sheets.

But if it happens{your dream comes true},put the sheets in a glass case and we will parade them every time we play the hawks.

I would imagine that every game both teams think they can win so (yes even the Dees players otherwise why put yourself in harms way) it would be of little surprise for the Hawks to hear that Dawes thinks they are ripe for plucking. Hardly fighting words. I can also imagine that if we are getting beaten the Hawks players will get into him. He will probably belt them.

I am not normally delusional but want to be today so I am going to put $100 on the boys. Now if somebody could tell me how to here. When we win, its long island ice teas for the rest of the weekend at Raffles. If by some perverse quirk of fate the Dees don't get up then its long island iced teas for the rest of the weekend at Raffles.

I bet with Wiliiam Hill @$6.75 I hope Dawes also got some action to back up his positive statements

Yeah, we're definitely resting players for next week now, just like the Bulldogs when they played Hawthorn.

The coaches know exactly the tripe we're going to serve up today. The coaches gave them last week to make amends for the Freo match and the players failed spectacularly.

If we can get the ball inside 50 roughly 50 times then we will be a chance, it's up to the midfield, Jones, Tyson, Vince need to win us this one...

Off to the G now boys a few expnsive pints then Go DEESSSS

See you lot later

@melbournefc: Late change. Forward Jesse Hogan out (General soreness). In Cam Pedersen.

That sucks.

Good call... Have him right foe the dogs next week. Never going to win today anyway. Young kids struggle to play a whole season first up, let alone one with a trouble back in the past

and we have decided to rest him for today's game. 2/2

We have been managing Jesse through the year, after training on Friday he wasn't fully recovered from last week 1/2

There is no God

All for looking after Jesse but if we raised the white flag before the game even starts its a bad message to players.

Quiet rumour kicking around that Hogan is a late withdrawal...

Good intel 'stuie'...well done

LATE CHANGES
Hawthorn: Isaac Smith replaced in the selected side by Jonathan Simpkin
Melbourne: Jesse Hogan replaced in the selected side by Cam Pederson

So we've rested Hogan and he'll someone sit out the next 2 or 3

Wise decision from the club. If Hogan is sore then he isn't worth the risk. Give him a rest and get him right for the Dogs. Won't make a difference to the scoreline today.

This could be a turn off the Tele at quarter time sort of day.

Very fortunate the Hawks are weakened with there significant outs of Hodge, Lewis, McEvoy and now Smith.

We're definitely "managing" players through this 3 week tough run.

Can't wait for next week's ins...

Roughy vs tmac is one I'm really looking forward too

He would be lucky to see the ball today. Next two games very winnable.

They better put up a good showing for those of us going along. I'll be mighty [censored] off if we get flogged now, because it sends a pathetic message to the rest of the group.

Smith is a HUGE out for Hawthorn. That guy has been dominating this year, from what i've seen.

Agreed, although the pessimist in me says it won't make much difference. Their run, carry and spread just cuts us up every time we play them. No Smith helps but I can still see them killing us on the rebound and from the stoppages.

Better to be safe than sorry with Hogan. Stretch is the sub.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
