I know elements of ASADA's argument were based on the symptoms and results being consistent with TB4 and not with Thymomodulin, i think that in itself is a pretty powerful argument

It makes me furious that the media is happy to bleat out EFC's cries about being "blindsided" and "surprised" by the appeal.

They knew it was coming, its the EFC PR Machine working overtime to always play the victim.

There are 2 things that I would like to know. 1. Will the CAS hearing be an open court where we will for the first time hear all the evidence? 2. Can witnesses be subpoenaed this time?

Now a contribution to Chapter 3 or is it 4.

Congrats to those who emailed to WADA and those who had conviction.

We are in new territory here. There are big organizations that are under pressure here and they will not like it.

The book "Glory and Fame: the rise and rise of the Essendon football Club" is on the remainder table outside the Gisborne news agency for $12.95, down from $39.95.

Two copies left so be quick (no, I didn't purchase a copy).

I wonder what David Evans is thinking about this? If Hird and the rest of his mates acted like Evans all of this would be over by now.

Even Hird might have recovered from this. Everyone makes mistakes and maybe people could understand that he lost his way trying to get an edge over the competition, served his punishment and became a better person for it.

Hird was one of my favourite non Melbourne players (probably more about watching him play) I find it hard to even look at him now with the way he has responded in all of this. You find out a great deal about someone in adversity.

And I wont even start on Tim Watson - he has a son involved in this, but his reputation and club are more important, clearly

David Evans did the honourable thing, its hard to say that about the rest of them

Interesting to browse the Declaration of Helsinki which govern human experimentation

Parts of the summary include

Research should be based on a thorough knowledge of the scientific background (Article 11), a careful assessment of risks and benefits (Articles 16, 17), have a reasonable likelihood of benefit to the population studied (Article 19) and be conducted by suitably trained investigators (Article 15) using approved protocols, subject to independent ethical review and oversight by a properly convened committee (Article 13)

Where are the records???????

There's a lot of "no one's" post here, Ash35 - haven't you been listening? And plenty of clear-enough assessment of the media coverage, too.

Essendon-like denial, Ash...

(Ash probably does deserve some respect for his courage and usual civility in posting here, though I do wonder what he imagines he might achieve. But this post was insulting and disrespectful, no matter what his tone was. I object to such insinuating and context-denying posts. I think his "not that it counts for a lot around here" is unnecessarily dismissive and implies we are wilfully ignoring a consensus of reasonable commentators. You'll need to do better than that Ash. And we are willing to talk with you if you do - but join in our discussion, if you come on. That ought to mean, don't dismiss out of hand major threads in our discussion. That sentence of yours that I've quoted was crap.)

Take a chill pill mate.

The point I was trying to make was the stark contrast in the medias "can't understand why they would appeal" attitude compared to Demonlands "can't understand why they wouldn't appeal" stance.

I certainly wasn't saying one take was right and one was wrong.

In fact, I have been one to say WADA should appeal.

But it's safe to say 90% of Demonlanders have their minds made up on the subject, so hence my throw away line of "Not that it counts for a lot around here".

I'm so glad you are willing to talk to me, being an outsider and all.

I chose to come here naked, not hiding who I am and where my support lies.

I don't troll, and I certainly didn't come here to "rumble".

Yes Ash, but are you prepared to agree that the Essendon 34 have not been found innocent 2 times as you previously declared? Like early Lance Armstrong they are yet to be found guilty.

great defence Ash, you have my respect. we all have our biases and wear different coloured glasses. there are plenty of insulting posters on demonland. I dont like them but thats life.

i condemn without reserve what's happened at EFC but there is a process to go through here and the next step of that process is WADA. That's all you can ask for.

Ash i am curious, i've never actually had an Essendon supporter who can mount an argument that actually makes me think maybe they have a point, i think alot of demonland and opposition supporters feel the same, it seems to be a lot of suggestions of a conspiracy or believing everything they read in articles

what are your thoughts on

appealing the joint investigations validity when show cause notices were offered? ( for me the club had said for a long period of time they wanted the truth to come out, answering the show cause notices was that opportunity and they seemed to be desperate to avoid that at all costs, have evidence thrown out on a technicality to avoid having to actually go that far into the process)

A club that ran such a significant injections program seemingly having no records or no concrete understanding of what was injected ( to me this just makes them look guilty, there is no way they didn't know/had no records )

the way they have got the media painting WADA/ASADA as the big bad wolf and pushing the pro essendon agenda.

i'm really curious to see if you have or have heard a well thought out argument from a bombers supporter

No one asked your opinion! We know they're guilty, burn them now!

I know Deefrag's post at #213 was intended to be humorous, but I hope the mods delete it if he doesn't.

I haven't quoted it because I don't want to repeat what was said but it is in worse than poor taste with a comparison that should not be made.

Late note: I see the original post #213 has now been deleted. There's nothing wrong with the post that's there now.

LDVC I had an earlier tete a tete with someone here that I shall not name many months ago on a very similar topic, It is sensitive ground and I agree it should be deleted.

Des2014 and BB, in all sincerity well done. You held the line and didn't waver. You were right. My doubts of a toothless big bad wada wolf were proven completely foundless, wrong even. Kudos also for ressiting the urge to say i told you so. I'm not sure i would have been big enough to do so in you place.

A truth spoken in jest? Your humour has betrayed you! You can't fool me with the iconic appearance of your icon, I know a Jesus when I see one and they don't look like you!

For starters my Jesus would never be seen in a roll neck sweater and AND he lived an ascetic life so was very trim and lean unlike your "icon" which shows a man aged beyond his years, pudgy and pale, due no doubt to a debauched and sinful life! No Sir you don't fool me . . not or one minute, I know you, you are the worst of the worst . . a genuine Hater!

You caught me!

Now bring on the trial and subsequent appeal. As long as I don't feel stressed it's all good.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
