Listening to Hird. OMG

The players have been found innocent! 2 1/2 years and they are still innocent. We will prove our innocence again! It's a surprise but we are ready. They have been proven innocent and we will prove it again.

FMD

If only he cared so much about the players when they were being injected with.....hang on not sure exactly what.

I hate Essendon and all who sail on her! However I am a hater with a heart . . . . . . .

here a gift for the sneaky closet Essendon apologist who may be feeling a tad stressed:

VALIUM enough or all (and sourced from OL' Mehico!!).

(Yes, Demonlanders this is a ploy: put the Doper lovers to sleep with Valium

then grab the can of Pea Beau and spray em like you would any filthy cockroach!)

WADA has only appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport twice on Australian sports doping matters. It lost both cases.

So I don't think anyone can feel vindicated, happy, sad, jubilant, disappointed or whatever until the case is completed later in the year.

All it does at present is put Essendon in the frying pan for another seven months.

I suggest you have a close look at the cases. Totally unrelated to this. WADA has a very strong record of appeals internationally on doping matters in football sports. Edited by Dees2014

lol, AFLPA are angry because it will cause more stress to the players:

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/aflpa-extremely-disappointed-over-wadas-appeal-of-essendon-verdict-20150512-ggzgmb.html

What if they're guilty AFLPA? Still worried about the stress levels of drug cheats?

AFLPA CEO Paul Marsh on Tuesday morning said the association was "extremely disappointed for the players" that the world's foremost authority on doping in sport was challenging the finding of the AFL anti-doping tribunal that cleared players of banned drug use.

What the hell does cleared of drug use mean, was that ever stated by the tribunal?

In a statement, the Tribunal said it was "not comfortably satisfied" that the players had been administered Thymosin Beta-4 or that they had violated the AFL's anti-doping code. - See more at: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-03-31/tribunal-hands-down-verdict#sthash.OwPyHW4u.dpuf

Not comfortably satisfied does not mean they are innocent!
The AFLPA should be taking legal action against the EFC for administering unknown drugs, not being disappointed in WADA. If WADA thinks things are bad enough to appeal to the CAS the AFLPA should be screaming for EFC's blood from the rooftops!

A world authority determined to get this club should show the players association that maybe there is something pretty serious to this.

I think the AFLPA have more questions to answer themselves. It beggars belief that they knew nothing of the injection regime at Essendon.

Why didn't they step in at the time and protect their players?

I find the whole stance of the AFLPA quite reprehensible actually. They seem either naive , disingenuous or just plain dumb....maybe all 3 !! They clearly dont understand whats actually going on, or dont care.

Not that it counts for a lot around here, but early media buzz is that no one can understand why WADA would appeal.

There's a lot of "no one's" post here, Ash35 - haven't you been listening? And plenty of clear-enough assessment of the media coverage, too.

Essendon-like denial, Ash...

(Ash probably does deserve some respect for his courage and usual civility in posting here, though I do wonder what he imagines he might achieve. But this post was insulting and disrespectful, no matter what his tone was. I object to such insinuating and context-denying posts. I think his "not that it counts for a lot around here" is unnecessarily dismissive and implies we are wilfully ignoring a consensus of reasonable commentators. You'll need to do better than that Ash. And we are willing to talk with you if you do - but join in our discussion, if you come on. That ought to mean, don't dismiss out of hand major threads in our discussion. That sentence of yours that I've quoted was crap.)

I lie to think it was all our emails to WADA that did the trick.

Thanks to everyone that wrote to them :)

I didnt know they also had a landing strip at Windy Hill.

Guess the drugs had to be delivered somehow...

If the World anti doping body thinks there is a problem then there is a problem. Can they prove it who knows but this is big news!

If the media can't understand it that says a lot about the media.

The World sporting body is pursuing this, that is a story, there is no way they would do this if they didn't think there was a problem at EFC.

NOTE: To the media, get off your lazy fat arzes and do some investigating, stop reading Hirds press releases. This is big.

Like that happens anymore. They don't have the budgets or the staff to do any work of their own.

Sports lawyer/academic on ABC radio just now saying decision to appeal was surprising. But not taking the usual media/EFC line. She said it was surprising because AFL is not an international support and because WADA doesn't often appeal having limited resources. Shows how significant this is.

I can't believe the AFLPA is "extremely disappointed" that WADA is appealing.

The attitudes of the majority of people associated with the AFL need to change.

There is so much self-preservation floating around it's ridiculous.

Where was their duty of care in the first place?

I think the players association have a lot to answer for, regardless of the potential use of TB4 in my opinion they have a responsibility to know intimate details of an injection program on the scale of this one.

In my opinion they should have been provided updates, detailed records and been kept very much in the loop so they could keep an eye out for the players

they either, simply did not know about it, in which case they shouldn't now be slamming WADA for persuing the issue futher

or they did know about it, and were given records vindicating the EFC, which clearly did not happen or ASADA would have them

or they were flat out lied to by the EFC, they know that's the case and the AFL have told them to keep their mouths shut so players aren't suspended

Let us hope that WADA also look at the role (or lack of role) of the AFL in this, particularly their overpaid Chief Executive at the time, AD!

Most disappointing is the AFLPA lack of concern for the health of their players. All they seem concerned about is their image. Mirrors Bruce Reid's lack of concern for his patients - seemed more concerned for his employer. Unethical (at best).

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
