I think his forward pressure is overrated as he rarely catches anyone, looks good when he does. He does drop simple uncontested marks which have little to do with delivery.

Dawes does play a role, as I say what you see is what you get with him. Is he good for the club, for the time being yes but ongoing I think we will need to do better. A good forward/ruck is what I think we should be looking for.

700+ is a lot for a role player rpfc.

For that I expect a key forward who takes marks and kicks goals.

Even allowing for Limited forward entry he drops way more marks that he holds.

Forget the money. Its a nonsense argument OD. We have to pay it to someone and there weren't queue's of premiership players lining up to join the Dees.

We were desperate for big bodied leaders and that's what we got. Not his fault.

Every year we see the boards cry out for "get Dangerfield" or get Judd" etc etc but they forget that very few ppl want to come to the Dees. That PJ and Roos have been able to attract to quality players by sharing their vision for the club is fankly unbelievable and we are very lucky to have secured the players we have got.

For sure, but the odd occasion he does get decent delivery and he coughs it up, that's what I'm referring to.

If Dawes is your third tall, he kicks 1 to 2 goals a game. When he's your second tall, with limited, poor delivery, it's not surprising he's not getting a lot of it.

I suspect it's because they look for Hogan almost every time. Sometimes it's warranted and other times it's one dimensional and lazy. I'd be kicking to Hogan though because you know 75% of the time he'll either halve the contest for you or pluck one.

It's $500k supposedly, OD, not $700k and just because he is a role player, does not mean he isn't important.

Hawthorn, Freo, and Sydney are filled with role players. There are a few expansive players that are around those well oiled machines but those teams are built upon AFL-capable players with seasoned bodies playing specific roles.

Again, and this is where 'reasons' can't be dismissed as 'excuses' - what forward line can win you a game with 31 Inside 50s?

Sometimes when you play AFL at the highest level i would expect you could win your own 50/50 ball, if its ok to only win ball when delivered on a plate then we would all play for the Dees

Completely agree. I think he has a negative influence on our development. Always leads wide, fails to make an impact for 80% of the game. Sucks the life out of the team. Only pops up when the rest of the team are playing well. Seemed like Neeld gave him a free ride into the team because of his Collingwood association and now he's on good terms with Roos because he's a good trainer or whatever

If he doesn't even get the ball kicked to him then he can't be a very good leader
