We've been pretty competitive v. Port on the Adelaide Oval, though we haven't beaten them there yet.

The first AFL game there (?2012 or 2013) we lost by about a point, but we actually won. The home town bias of the umpires that day was beyond belief.

You're not the ghost of our former President Billy Snedden, are you?

Another 3 (random) hoodoos to smash:

1) Never won an away game at night V's Port Adelaide....ever.

2) Haven't beaten Carlton on a Sunday since 2007

3) Haven't beaten Geelong on a Saturday since 2005

You are one committed Melbourne supporter.

Going back a bit but I remember us beating the Hawks at Princes Park on a rainy day in 1989.It was the last time I ever went there as I thought the place was a sh*thole.

most suburban grounds were sh*tholes i those days

This list is getting out of hand.  If we keep on winning you blokes will have to go for records like "Since 1988 we haven't beaten Sydney at the SCG on a day when a north westerly was blowing until half-time after which it swung around to an easterly."

I look forward to that.

Sue, here's more hoodoos to float your boat:

It was the first time we won a home Saturday afternoon game at the MCG V's Hawthorn since rd 22 1990.

It was the first time we won a Saturday afternoon game (home or away) V's Hawthorn at the MCG since round 15 2000. It was our away game.

It was the first time we beat Hawthorn on a Saturday afternoon as our home game in Victoria since rd 17 1994. Venue was Princes Park.

The Collingwood win in round 4 holds special significance for the club.

It was our first 'away' win against them on a Sunday....ever.

Gosh. Now I feel like we didn't celebrate it enough!

I went to that game with my brother in law. It is as clear as day that memory to me. Perhaps I haven't drunk too much single malt after all  !!!!!!!  Time is on my side.

Saw Big Carl's first game for Melbourne, early 73.

Won.

Lost against them for next 12 or 13 years. Twice a year in those days, the streak I fear is one of the worst in VFL,AFL history.

And smash the North hoodoo as well, particularly if we play them at the G next year.

True, that one we were so close to breaking this year too (probably should have). If we can knock those two off they would be the two most frustrating records broken on the list.

I was at that game and I agree, it is the worst, most biased umpiring I have ever seen (including last Saturday v Hawks which is Top 10). I remember Jeremy Howe taking an absolute hanger in the goalsquare and was about to go back and put us in front when an umpire who was 100 meters away came running in to say it wasn't a mark. They decided to ball it up. I nearly exploded.

recall Jurrah not being paid a screamer in a tight finish also.

and Leigh Colbert for Geelong in a final - turned the tide - probably the year we beat them by 10 goals.  The AFL has since ruled they got it wrong with us.  Needless to say, Crows won a flag.

Interstate clubs get a dream run at home.

One Adelaide game v Fitzroy,  Lions, 10 points up, time on final quarter, footy Park.  Last four kicks of the game - Crow frees.  Win by two points.

"Embarrassing" records. I don't think not beating a team on a Sunday for a decade classifies as embarrassing :P

OMFG we hadn't beaten the Pies on a Sunday afternoon away game EVER!!???   WTF!!??? That's a cracker to break.

Here's another zinger for you all.

The players were seen celebrating hard in Darwin after our win over Freo in round 16.  Why? Because it was our first win under lights against Freo as the home team since round 20 1996. A 20 year hoodoo worth celebrating!

I remember that game. Last kick was to a squib called Marshall who performed the most red hot dropping he ball you will ever see in your life. Called as holding the man.

Just about ate the bean bag I was sitting on, my mind was blown so bad.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
