GAME DAY, ROUND 2, 2015

Wake up Melbourne.

This game is about to be lost if we don't start getting our [censored] together.

A clearance will help. Come on Jonesy you need to lift!

Lift lift !!! Watts still needs to stand tougher

That was insipid effort to keep that in the forward line. We are moving the ball way too slow, what happen to the run run run from last week\

This is 2014-esque now.

Since Garlett's goal 10 minutes into the second quarter, it's 3.4 to 1.0, and we've hardly gone inside 50 either.

This is all them right now.

We're in serious trouble here. We've absolutely stopped after about 15 minutes into the second. We can't keep thinking we've won after we get a lead. It's as bad as thinking we've lost after we get behind.

Our midfield is being absolutely smashed

Not sure what the exact reason is for this, but we are getting belted in the middle, hardly getting our hands on it. Disposals are even now at 187 a piece.

Where are our leaders?

That's us for the day I reckon. Too little run and desire. The old style Dees have returned. Utter rubbish.

Clearances are now 27-23 their favour, inside 50s are now 31-20 their favour (this was 11-13 at quarter time).

Another goal to GWS - we are absolutely finished.

Oh no.....

time to see if we will crumble like last year or if we can lift.

howe is having a shocker

Wtf? How can you go from being totally organised and in control to this rabble either side of a half time break?

When Garlett kicked his goal it was 6.3 to 0.2.

Since then it's 6.6 to 1.0.

Completely lost the momentum, it seems to be coming from contested possessions (almost even now at 76-81) and clearances (smashing us 29-23 now).

It's completely flipped, we're stagnant and have no defensive pressure through the middle, whilst they are linking up off half-back and moving quick and fast with skill. Totally the opposite of what we were doing to them in the first quarter and a half.

Jones needs to lift....midfield is being destroyed

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
