Umm why didn't Toumpas handball it straight away when he had 2 players in the clear?

Jesus that was dumb

69 to 54 in our favour.

24 minutes into the final quarter.

Should win but we're doing our best to lose it. This is a Casey Scorpions-esque capitulation.

The Scorps had a good win today, with Cam Pedersen starring

Holy [censored], a siren. I can't believe it, we won?

What a disgraceful second half. Hang your heads in shame boys, [censored] pathetic.

man thats a shocking 2nd half but remember guys only a scratch match no biggy

Umm why didn't Toumpas handball it straight away when he had 2 players in the clear?

I'd love to know how many times Toumpas was caught today, by no means best 22.

Such a typical Melbourne performance

We have to learn to play 4 quarters. FFS we just stopped in the second half. It's not acceptable.

But no injuries it seems so we'll take it and move on.

that old familiar feeling is back, we're a lock for bottom 4

booo boo boo shocking performance

Im at ground and I could see this happening at half time sure we won but won what, nothing in my eyes we were terrible if dogs had half there players they would have smashed us, we are way off and I will stick with my bottom 4 prediction

If that's the best we can do ... lets look forward to another wooden spoon ...

I Hate following this team ... they build you up just to rip your heart out.

Well I flicked on when I saw the score of us being 40 something points up, the moment I switch on we played like, well, us!

Worrying lack of leadership when the s--- hit the fan. Lumumba showed a bit in the last quarter in the middle, but very bad decision making is still something we need to work on.

Anyway, hopefully Roos gets something out of it but jeez we're still a long way off the pace.

Hope Roos sprays them after that second half. If the first half was any indication, then we should've won by 80+

Story of the game -

We had 400 disposals to less than 250.

But about the same number of contested posessions, and clearances.

11 players with 8 or more marks, all of them along half-back or midfield.

While the Bulldogs were in disarray and let us have time and space to work a precision-kicking game, it worked wonders.

Once they got their tails up and started closing down our movement into half-forward, the rebounds really hurt us, and we clearly got complacent about fighting out the defensive side. Too many were caught running to where they hoped the ball would be.

Very disappointing second half, for sure, but I really hope our players are coaches are a little bit more resilient than the Sookscapade Spectactular going on here!

After half time: Bulldogs 32 inside 50's to Demons 12...

Garland

Grimes

McKenzie

Matt Jones

None of these guys offer enough at AFL level. None of them. I'll be very surprised to see any of them in the side for Round 1.

We've got other players who do offer enough at AFL level but they all have kicking weaknesses too.

It's far too many players. We don't have enough quality kickers and it continues to kill us.

Sorry nothing wrong with a Grimes game today. Agree with the others.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
