FAREWELL JEREMY HOWE

Featured Replies

If we did hypothetically get pick 3 there is nothing to stop us trading that to GWS for a player and a later pick, the gws is after all pretty greedy in trying to bank as many early picks as they can.

Suns seem very keen on him which suggests, with the interest from other clubs, that they might be willing to part with Pick 3 for Howe and Pick 6. Moving up three spots allows us to take who we believe to be the best midfielder in the draft, or gives us a little extra power in terms of trying to pry an A grade mid loose from somewhere.

Either way I think it's in our best interests to try and send him to QLD.

Surely if the MFC are considering rearranging pick 6 & 3 we would get back another pick for trading Howe & the exchange of pick 3 & 6 would be to sweeten the deal. If it was Howe & pick 6 for pick 3 as speculated the MFC is bending itself over IMO.

What about 6 and Howe for 3 and one of 19 or 22? Trading 25 for Melksham would be no problem at all then, even moreso if Dawes and Toump are traded for picks that could land Bugg and Kennedy.

Hmmmm, the Lions got pick 17 for Redden!!!!! I think Howe has more value, he certainly is way more versatile. Interesting to see what we get. We need to hope he nominates the GC - they will be knee deep in picks before this trade period finishes!!!!!

Howe < Redden.

It's no use being flexible if you can't play a position at an AFL level.

I think if he stays, he will struggle to stay in the 22 forward, back, middle, bench, anywhere...

So I just want a few questions answered.

Does Jeremy want to play forward but rossy and co want to keep him back? I'll tell you right now he will never be a jack gunston clone. Doesnt push hard enough

Are we pushing him out or does he want to go to a club that will probably play finals?

Is it a money issue?

anyway one one hand I will be sad to lose him but if he wants to go then so be it.

I hope he ends up at the gold coast. Couldn't handle seeing him in a nth or pies jumper.

On another side note no more howie's hangers next year before the game.

understand Jeremy Howe is a f l o g

Very average player with one trick with tickets on self

I wish him no unwell..but couldn't care less.

His value is what is the person we get in his place and that ursurps him

would much rather keep pick 6 and get pick 19, than lose Howe for a 3 pick upgrade

because he's just not that good !!

I thought Slobbo, for once, summed up the Howe situation quite well today:

"Jeremy Howe asked for a trade from Melbourne on Monday. He wants somewhere about $500,000 and the Demons basically said you bugger off. For a guy who can mark the ball and, as yet, do none of the other fundamentals very well, it points to a huge salary and a huge ego for a player whos living on taking a speccie every second week."

Probably the only intelligent thing Slobbo has ever written.

And he isn't far off the mark. The club rightly balked at that salary request, he's flogging himself.

Garry Lyon had a crack at him as well. He says he cant understand why he wants to go and said is it worth it leaving just to get an extra 100k. Said he doesnt know how to play forward that well and is a defender who jumps on his opponents head and marks the ball.

Howe, pick 6 and future 2016 second rounder for Prestia and 10, I think that's fair enough if Prestia wants to come next year anyway

Garry is right too.

I find him jumping ship at this stage baffling. Clearly he was a bit of a sook and didn't like being played down back, which only highlighted the fact that he isn't a team player. Instead of doing what is best for the club who huffed and puffed and decided to take his bat and ball and go elsewhere.

Good riddance.

Reality check.

If Howie was in town and watching the Teeve News tonight - pick a station, any station - he'd have noticed that he did not rate a mention in any of the trade reports which says something about where he sits in the scheme of things.

His heart is not in the club. He clearly wants to take a couple of species and get paid $100,000 per mark.

See ya Jeremy, you can join the rest of the ungrateful sooks.

Its funny really:

Now he IS on the way out some now suggest the feelings others of us have felt all along. He's very average.

He's in a position to make a buck. Good luck.

Second rounder would be a win for us.

As a matter of interest, who else does his agent represent? Does his agent have 'form'?

Ben Niall: only a few clients but they include Heath Shaw (moved clubs but before BN's time), Chris Dawes (moved clubs), Howie obviously (moving clubs), and Nick Malceski (moved clubs).

Two client endorsements on his website (Shaw and Dawes).

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
