FAREWELL JEREMY HOWE

Howe wants to be Jack Gunston.

Doesnt have the footy nous or the ability.

Jack Gunston is a nice comparison for a manager throw out there.

Pity about the elite kicking thing though. Just a minor issue in a game called 'foot' ball.

So its Where and When for Howe and for What ?

Not fussed Why but am for Whom ?

after all this, reckon there could be a book in it for Him. & maybe others yet?

Howe & why, wonder books.

& possibly, Howe, Watt, when, why, books of adventure. ???

It sounds to me like he doesn't like playing in defence (which is his best position).

same with Dunn not so many years back... had his nose out of joint, down back initially. but he grew up.

I think he could have very good foot skills, but he is lazy in his execution and loses concentration. Not alone there.

If you REALLY meant to say that after I corrected you then I apologise..But in saying that, just because there willing to pay Howe $600k, doesn't mean they have to offer 'great compo' aka trade picks. Not how it works bud.

Yes I REALLY meant that so apology accepted. If I was talking about FA I would use the term 'compensation picks'. IMO if they value him that highly, they should be wiling to give something commensurate.

And while we're correcting people, it's they're not there.

There is no doubt that Roos is pizzed off that Howe is demanding far more than what he is worth. Think he even leaked that to Slobbo a couple of weeks ago on AFL 360, He won't be held to ransom with a guy that finishes ninth in the Bluey.

I reckon it's just as likely that we offered him a low contract (read 'lowballed him'), hoping he'd say he'd prefer to test the market. Sure enough, that's what he said. We said beauty, we might get something out of this afterall. That's how I would have played it if I was Todd Viney.

Said our offer was half that of one of the other suitors. Will be expecting great compo if they're willing to pay big bucks. Said 600K rumour was BS.

Reckon we offered about $250k then.

I think we will regret losing him.

Nooooope.

Seems to me his manager is a slimy little geezer. I don't actually think I care. Remember the last game of the year? Took a hanger. In a rush of blood, he gets up (in hindsight, clearly thinking how prospective teams must be thinking of signing him) and kicks the ball directly to the opposition, and I think it ended in a turnover goal. Either way it demonstrated a lack of football intelligence. And for me, throughout his career I have thought, 'he's not the sharpest tool in the box this bloke'.

Anyways, I'm just putting my faith in the FD. Surely Jackson, Goodwin, Roos and Mahoney know what they are doing by their offer to him. Ego's ruin pretty much all relationships. We say "your worth this" He and his slimy little manager say "well this team will pay me this" and we have a standoff. The parties dig in. yada yada yada.

I'd be happy if he stayed and I don't care if he goes. But if he does choose Metricon stadium (which I can't believe he will) to run out on every week then my earlier statement regarding sharp tools is accurate.

F**k him

More 4 quarter competitors who impact games please

Im surprised at the vitriol here. Come contract time players and their managers are fully entitled to field offers and take the best deal.

If we could get pick 19 and draft Lovell... well, that's just sensational.

Alternatively, if these rumours about Prestia come to fruition, well...

almost all gone from our past era's.. all players who were effected by the 2004 - 2012 culture time warp, are nearly done.

the quicker we pass that era, the quicker we will rise again.

we as a club have wasted our time & our chances since mid 90's, thru not having the right attitudes & professionalism, culture. we've had talent, but not the winning wayz. and the kids who came in learnt these below elite casual wayz.

that maybe chookrat, but that doesn't mean the punters have to like it, & lump it as well.

it is, the distasteful part of sport. The part that footy people turn away from.. only tonight at the Pier, I was talking to a couple of individuals, both were fishing by themselves, both once supported footy, now they can't stand it... the money they said, speaking to each seperately... they have no love for the game any longer.

the game is moving beyond the people, & the game will be the thing hurt by it.

or and less years than he wants.

I'd say the teams interested are...

GCS, Collingwood, Melbourne and Hawthorn

I reckon Howe and Watts would both be so much more dangerous in a stronger side.

I cannot see Howe at Hawthorn.

He wants overs and they won't pay overs. They also already have a quality forward-line.

I remember Roosy saying in relation to Howes manager on 360 that 'it depends on what the manager is telling the player ' , saying that he wasnt feeding back what the club was saying truthfully

I would say you are right about the interested teams. Gold Coast & Collingwood have both held meetings with Howe & he was rumoured to have held discussions with a team that finished their season last weekend which could be West Coast or Hawthorn, I'd say it would be the Hawks.

Dermott Brereton made a comment this week that if Howe moved to a finals side they would reprogram him by playing him in the reserves for 6-8 weeks & then he'd be ready to go in a higher placed team. I found it interesting that he had an opinion like that about Howe. It possibly shows that Hawthorn have put some work into him already. Hawthorn may think that they would have a role for him, I believe Howe is good friends with Frawley so there are a few links.

GCS are hypothetically the better team to trade with if they can send a player we want our way. I'm not sure Hawthorn or Collingwood will give us value for what we are giving them in terms of a player we would want.

It was because he never plays in front and always wants to mark from behind. It's one of the reasons he's been a hopelessly inconsistent forward.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
