He is a restricted free agent as well, so I'll be interested to see if we match any offer made for him, or we have a certain amount we won't go over. It does mean that he may get more than his market value which will bump up the compensation we receive.

Howe has only been with us for 5 years, he is not a free agent

Sorry, this whole thing mucks me up all the time.

Can we match an offer from another club for him or can he just up and leave and we have to take the compensation we are given?

He needs to be traded, or a he walks and goes back into the draft.

Aside from the obvious issue of sidelining all the kids who are unfortunate enough to be Dees fans, I'd like to see Howe go and for us to get something decent in return. I just don't see a spot in the side for him in a good structure, unless Roos will keep him at 3rd tall.

At worst he would provide versatile depth, something we are sorely lacking, as can be seen by some of the players getting a game at the moment. It would need to be something very decent, and not a draft pick, for me to be happy to trade him.

I don't understand the hate for Jeremy Howe on here

2014

1st for short kicks

5th for kicks

2nd for marks

1st for contested marks

2nd for rebound 50's

He is now playing in the forward line which is a much harder position and kicked 4 goals in the past 2 weeks

People get so carried away with draft/trade and what we can get for him that's it's not funny

He is 24 years of age has played 89 games and kicked 75 goals

I hope he re-signs and continues to get more consistent........I've just returned from Bali.....Demonland never changes, I might have to go back

Ignore that stats and watch his impact on games. As an indicator 22 players are ahead of him the Demonland Player of the Year votes. Then ask how much you would be willing to pay for him?

He is inconsistent in his offensive and defensive intent and lacks football smarts and clean disposal. He always has been and does not appear to be better for the last 18 months development. He will not be the reason we play finals in the future but he is icing. I would not pay overs for a third tall highlight reel and would take a top 20 pick and run if available.

Are you really serious?.......You really take notice of Demonland Player of the year votes????

You would really take a pimply 18 year old for him????? Which would involve 2 to 3 years of development as we have seen with Stretch and ABN

You have to pay the cap for your players

So by your reasoning we should ignore all stats for all players and just watch for their impact on the game.....We wouldn't have a side.....Players have roles these days dictated by the coaches......He keeps getting a game so must be doing something right.

Without Mumford GWS will plummet - anyway pick 13 would be a good get (for Howe).

Strongly agree on both fronts. Pick 13 for Howe I would be outstanding for Melbourne ....... like Christmas in October!

Demonland's POTY is not a valid indicator of Howe. Laughable to suggest it is.

Howe to Richmond

Richmond's first round pick to Carlton

Yarran to Melbourne

Done! I hope anyway.

A lazy, one dimensional player. Look past the hangers and he's got nothing.

Stats against StKilda

17 possessions 9 kicks 7 handballs (7 Contested)

5 marks....6 tackles

1 goal 2 behinds

6 score involvements

Not bad for a high half forward.....Do you want me to compare with Garlett???(no bad press for him)

Howe can actually play. You want us to give up a known quantity for 'just a player'.

No thanks.

Yarran at his best v Howe at his best.

Yes please! And that's no disrespect to Howe.

I reckon he's been gone since the ridiculous offer came last year.

He looks a little lost to me or even down on confidence. He has spent an entire pre-season preparing to follow up and excellent 2014 in the backline, only to now find himself switched forward again.

For someone who's always appeared to be a natural forward, he appears all at sea

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
