Guess the next head on the banner.

I would have put Watts ahead of Dawes, Grimes or Cross.

That Banner is a stark reminder of our shortage of A grade talent.

Lumumba for the last head.

Is it going to be a Roos and Goody sandwich!??

One of Kent, JKH or Jetta should be up there. Great contributors in 2014. Hogan hasn't played a game yet.

Dunn, Hogan, Tyson, Cross, Vince and Lumumba.

Congratulations, well done.

I know it's just a banner, but I have to admit to being a little disappointed that Jetta didn't get the recognition he deserves. For a long time he was a popular whipping boy on these forums (along with Dunn and Watts among others), but last year he turned his game around and was probably the most improved player on our list (even moreso than the Ped). I certainly would have had him ahead of Grimes or Lamumba who is yet to play a game in the red and blue... yes, I know he's in the leadership group, but I would have thought players have to earn their place on the BANNER!

Eleven heads on the banner, and we'll be lucky if more than five of them will be part of our next finals team.

2 pies, a dog, a crow, but no room for the Jet. Who voted for this?

You think this is a democracy?

It's a demoncracy

No offence to anyone but.....Who really cares......I come on here to see and read the opinions of other likeminded people

not to see who is on the banner.

No one has to earn their place on the banner. Who am I to be judge and jury? This is a fan site.

In which case, the fans responded in the poll with a resounding "No" vote (74% or thereabouts) to not including new recruits (Lamumba was on that list) and Watts had more votes than Dawes (7 vs 2). Alas, poor Nev was slotted away in the Others vote, so we will never know if he earned a place of not.

Jeez if i knew Watts wasn't going to make it i would put my energy into getting him up there

Andy you do a great job with the site and you've got every right to put up who you want.

Well done and thanks.

Given all the work the Administrators put into keeping this site going, it's churlish for the rest of us to complain because the banner selections don't meet our personal preferences. I say well done.

(And if there's a way to monetise the banner to allow people to put their own preferences up there, I'll donate any commission I would otherwise get from suggesting the idea to Demonland).

I'm just busting balls, like it makes a lick of difference whose mug is on the banner. It looks good, a little over-crowded but good

Not complaining at all LDvC... I initially expressed surprise that Jetta wasn't there, but then my inner "grumpy old man" escaped his cage and couldn't resist responding to Demonland's comment re "fan site"... I too believe D'land and all admins do a great job.

This is also not a democracy so I can do whatever the hell I like. :P

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
