Indigenous All Stars v West Coast Eagles

Tuned in to the second quarter. All Stars are up by 10 at the main break. Heard Jetta and JKH's name a couple of times. One was a "slick" handball from JKH, the other was an errant kick from Jetta. Sounds like both are playing back.

Shane Yarran also stating his case to be on an AFL list. You'd think would be worth a punt somewhere.

Very frustrating that this isn't being televised.

Are you suggesting that we have to adore everything the AFL dishes up LL?

It is a practice match by two groups I have little interest in.

We don't have to be interested - I'm not much interested myself. The point is that it's of immense significance to indigenous footballers throughout the country, not just those in the AFL. These blokes are very proud to play in this game.

Josh McGuiness is about the least indigenous sounding name that I've ever heard.

Micky O'Laughlan says 'top of the morning' to you.

Apparently the all stars have just 2 players over 190cm... so they are at a major disadvantage when it comes to height. Haven't heard Nev mentioned a lot, but Lewis Jetta is getting quite a bit of it.

I think we all have a man crush on Nev Jetta.. the guy is a beast!

He almost came from nowhere at the perfect time to dominate the leagues best small forwards. We didn't have a good small defender, now we have an elite one.

I love it when a player works really hard and turns their game around as Jetta has done.

Shows how committed he is and how much he wants it.

Other players should take note.

Goodluck for 2015 and beyond Jetta.

I hope you get the opportunity some time this year to tell the two guys playing tonight how you feel. I'm sure they'll appreciate your honesty.

No problems at all .

I'll explain that it is good news that the two boys were recognised but it is just a practice match.

Out of interest are you going to do the same honesty thing with Max King ?

"I've got a feeling he's about 7 months away from looking for a new career." ( what you write on the internet always comes back to haunt you)

What about the name Krakouer? For the record, they are also listed as Jewish footballers because the original Krakouer was Jewish, originally from Krakow in Poland, hence the name, who went to England, got arrested and sent as a convict to WA. True story.

A huge stretch. A Jewish pedigree is passed down through the mother not the father so unless the "got arrested and sent as a convict" is female then they are definitely not Jewish.

So you lost your card?

lets just say they can't kick you out but my observance is from a distance.

I always said that when my daughters grew up I wanted them to have boyfriends of the faith. I have been half fortunate - the oldest certainly has a boyfriend of the faith - a diehard MFC supporter but the youngest has gone against the faith by going out with a Carlton supporter.

It could be worse nutbean imagine your angst if he supported the Dons

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
