A footballer is a footballer mate, he can play the game pretty bloody well. People put too much emphasis on being tall and strong and athletic, sure they are all great attributes, but you can 100% succeed without them, and I think Caleb Daniel will.

it has to be either Tom Wilkinson or Nathan Drummond. Both tipped in 35-45 range. Pace to burn and put up some impressive numbers. We will still need pace in the mids.

I'm swewing we Frost cost us so much with our second round pick, particularily considering the Giants traded O'Rourke for so little.

We could have easily been forced to use our second round pick on Stretch but we got lucky. Its swings and round-a-bouts. We got our man, be thankful for that.

Brayden Maynard is a slick utility type that does his best work off the packs with an ability to kick on either side of his body. The hard-nosed, balanced midfielder is somebody that is targeted by opposition teams to shut down, given his ability to quickly set up play and importantly stream forward to goal. He’s been utilised in an array of positions: however, he ultimately looms more of a forward type. However, with increased endurance and fitness, he has the potential to make the move into the midfield, whether permanently or as a rotation. Aside from his brilliant goal kicking, Maynard is an aerial specialist with strong hands in a contest, who also marks strongly around the ground. I have met Brayden a few times as he is the nephew of a very good friend of mine. He is a very impressive young man and the times I have spoken to him he has always spoken extremely highly of the MFC footy department. He said it was by far the toughest interview process he has gone through of any AFL team, and on that one of his fellow team mates Angus Brayshaw also quickly reiterated Brayden's view.

I would love to have him in our jumper, but unfortunately for us, I dont think he will still be there for us at our pick, as he has said several clubs have shown their interest in him with Gold Coast, Collingwood, Richmond & Adelaide telling him they would love to have him if he happens to slip past the mid 20's.

Touk Miller is a good footballer, has a bit of Parker/Sloane about him - albeit a lesser version atm.

But if any player shares the comparison of 'no frills' footballer, then it is Miller.

The guy I am keen on at 40 or 53 is Lucas Webb.

If we manage to get Petracca and Brayshaw or take another combo of mids with our first two picks wouldn't mind seeing the club taking a punt on Tyler Keital at Pick 40. Can play the swingman role as CHB, CHF and someone I see who has plenty of upside.

Tyler is a good athlete and represented WA at Nationals in Athletics, no questions in regard to his endurance and agility and has good hands

Thanks for the feedback Oneday. I was hoping to see him sneak through as the phantom drafts seem to have him going from the late teens to the mid-40's, but that's unlikely - bugger!

Judging by the discussion on the other thread, we could do a lot worse than picking up Oscar. Might be the depth we need in the back as a long-term proposition and he seems at least the equal if not better than his brother.

Oscar McDonald is one of the better key defenders I am really bullish about in terms of advancing to the next level. He is tall and athletic, and also picks off numerous forward 50 entries with his tremendous ability to take intercept marks and rebound strongly. Best described as a general in defence, McDonald the younger brother of Melbournes Tom is extremely versatile as a defender, and, unlike most key defenders, he loves to back himself and use the ball by foot. He hits the ball flat and hard, and has a really nice turn of foot, being deceptively quick over his first few steps. The Rebels have also used him as a key forward, and hes shown he can be just as damaging at both ends. He has a fantastic leap, strong hands, a really good work rate and rarely ever goes to ground.

The North Ballarat Rebels gained a top four spot with a narrow two-point win over the Oakleigh Chargers. In a low scoring affair, the Rebels were incredibly accurate having just 10 scoring shots to a mammoth 23 but getting the job done. On the other hand, Oakleigh were terrible in front of goal and will need to address that ahead of their Qualifying Final against Geelong. Oscar McDonald was again the best and pushed his finals credentials while Hugh Beasley was a shining light off half back and Toby McLean exciting up forward. North Ballarat now face Calder in the Qualifying Final while Oakleigh meet Geelong.

The younger brother of Melbournes Tom, Oscar McDonalds season has seen himself launched into the limelight as a Jackson Trengove-like defender who boasts terrific athleticism, agility, speed, a lovely kick and the ability to threaten when pinch hitting up forward. McDonald has been North Ballarats gun player this year, and arguably their most important. Playing key roles at both ends of the field, he has been a large reason why the Rebels have shot into flag contention in 2014. With a terrific ability to read the play, mixed with a combination of being able to attract and use the ball in possession, his willingness to kick goals at one end and stop them at the other will go a long way to ensuring the Rebels go deep into September.

All, it looks like Oscar Mcdonald has done a Zac Jones and exceeded expectations this year. From a possible draftee, it seems he may be in the 20-30 draft range. The irony is that GWS may select him at pick 23 !!

For pick 40 on current estimates and phantoms, I think we can look at
