WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT

Featured Replies

The thing to remember with Garlett is that he produced his best football alongside Betts. Once he lost his partner he went to pieces.

He doesn't seem to have coped very well with being the primary small forward. What we hope here is that playing him up the ground he'll get more room to move and use his speed to set up scores rather than kick the goals himself.

Hopefully it takes young JKH under those hunge wings of his and they create some excitement

JKH and Garlett could definitely be an exciting small forward combo. Electric even!

Maybe Roos will be easier to relate to and get on with, therefore perform better for, than Mad Mick?

Blues fan says 23 for Garlett + 28 - that's gold

28 to Nafan for The Prince

Keep the Clark receipts

Yes, seeing approval for 23 for 28 + Garlett all over Carlton forums. Hopefully the club agrees with their supporters.

That would be a solid deal for us. Gives us 28 to use on HL, plus pick/s from MC trade to use on Frost/another fringe player.

We probably won't need 28 for HL with talk of a three player swap involving, HL, MC and Travis Varcoe.

Sorry if I have missed it, but have we actually come out and said we want Garlett or has Garlett come out and said he wants to go to the Dees? Or is this all speculation?

He's come out and said it. Article on the MFC site.

We want him. Roos has been talking to him for weeks and has a specific role for him, not just in the forward line but pushing up the midfield.

He met senior players earlier this week.

Both as l understand it!. Roos wants him and he wants to join us! There is even an article to this effect on theMFC website.

23 for 28 + Garlett

28 for Lumumba

So basically, we would be turning 23 into Garlett and Lumumba. I would be happy with that.

That would be good in our situation..2 walk up first 22 players

Agreed.

Replace the worst performed forward and worst performed defender with those two and you have significant improvement.

Hopefully bring in one additional midfielder.

Sounds like lots of improvement.

given the likelihood of a three way for clark varcoe and harry this particular garlett scenario would result in us having 28. Not altogether bad I suppose.

Hypothetically if a Tyson-esque deal came off for 3 youd still have picks #2 #?(8-15...change from 3 ) #28 and the other rubbish ones

There'd be coming In , Harry, Garlett, the pick 3 trade deal bloke, Frost...plus at least 3 draftees of some sort of note..

Something I do like about both Harry and Jeff is they are players that dont muck around and take 5 mins to think of what to do.

well, we wait :)

edit..plus Stretch of course.. In this new age at melbourne I wouldnt expect to have a lot of impact via the draftees in 15...some cameos and teases perhaps :)

edit :unsure::rolleyes: T :)

I am still adamant that we need to secure one more experienced mid in there somehow. Downgrading pick 3 seems the most likely way, but we will see.

Edit: didn't fully read your post first time BB, but that is pretty much my ideal trade period

Dyson-esque deal would also consume our 2nd round pick

Dyson-esque deal would also consume our 2nd round pick

why...why both??

pick 3 out....player pick ( 1st rounder back )in

Dyson-esque deal would also consume our 2nd round pick

Kevin?

He was a great pick up from Oakleigh.

A Dyson-esque deal would have us punting some 50 year old geezer to the Swans

Tyson folks. It's not that hard

And we'd get to root Geelong by making the Mitch Clark deal hard to get across the line.

this trade should have been done already

are Carltank playing hardball with a guy they turfed out? lol

I sense the clark, harry + whatever etc deal needs to go down first... just a gut feeling.... ( might also just be lunch)

Jeez, Carlton are screwed next year...

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
