WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST

Featured Replies

People are stoked with Frost, but not happy with Lumumba. I don't get this place anymore, i think i need to go and join 'Ology or Big Footy. i'm done.

For the record, i am happy with both players.

Young key defender on the way up vs half back flanker on the way down. Late draft pick vs pick 21. A couple of big differences there.

Frost has played 12 games, so still has some growing to do. I don't think GWS are going to ask the world for him, so he could be a nice acquisition at the right price. We will see if he can be packaged with another few young stars, or come to the dees via a 1-1 type swap, whether it be a player or a pick.

Hopefully he actually wants to come here, and not join Hawthorn/Collingwood like every other home sick kid!

If we get Sam Frost I doubt we will move on Oscar McDonald (Tom's brother) as they are a similar height and play the same position. I was expecting him to be our 4th round pick.

refer to all my other HL posts, including videos and other peoples stats they have posted. i'm done on this topic, and have made my opinions/points clear. People know where i stand, so i will say this loudly and proudly and not talk anymore about either of them:

WELCOME HERITIER AND SAM!

Full backs don't need the greatest skills in the world, however they need players around them to have fatastic footskills or an ability to break zones.

If we land Frost, it's fantastic. He'll be under the tutelage of Roos and some fantastic coaches as well as some real leaders unlike in recent years.

That will have a huge effect on understanding competitiveness and professionalism for young Frost who over the years will develop into someone who genuinely cares about competing as opposed to Frawley who just went through the motions at times this year thanks to the environment he was used to as well as his lack of self-drive/understanding.

Get Lamumba, Gwilt/Malceski around him, Tommy Mac and Dunn and you have some players who know how to use the ball and break zones.

Frost's highlight reel showed him going quite nicely in the forward half. Admittedly at junior level.

Looked ok and with a bit of toe.

will be interesting to see where Roosy plays him (assuming he comes to us)

He's a backman. Athleticism is his main strength. It's nice to see some prior forward line traits but definitely a backman I think. He's pretty much Tom McDonald 2.0 with a bit extra speed and size and hopefully Roosy can develop both of them.

If Frosty comes to Melbourne, that will be another addition to the 21-22 y.o players Roos is trying to build.

Sam was rookied in 2011 from the Sandy Dragons and played with Jarryd Lyons (taken pick 61 in 2010). He is a Wesley boy a year behind Viv Michie who came from the Oakleigh chargers in 2010. The Chargers in 2011 were an interesting group with Tyson were Tomlinson, Greene, Tom Curran (Kangas) and Daniel Pearce (Bulldogs). Maybe the plan is to reunite or build a solid group of 20 to 23 year olds.

Good chance he could end up a Demon, with Mahoney indicating earlier today interest in him and Sauce.

I'd happily take him. 3rd or 4th rounder?

Fourth I would have thought. Not that GWS will use it in the draft but just to get him to where he wants to go.

I hear his father Jack was very nippy.

Hard to get to know though. Could be icy at times.

The Pommy detective?

Skills were better in the wet ...

Jack is his brother.

I see.

I see.

No relation to Frosty the Snowman?

He totally missed the joke didn't he?

Nope. Just wasn't funny.

But Jack is his brother.

If you're going to make a shitty and obvious joke, at least get that right.

No relation to Frosty the Snowman?

Try again dude..

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
