Give it up.... Support the players we have not the 1s we should have could have blah blah

About time this club actually created an environment were players are developed to high afl standards... I'm sure if you looked @ clubs like haw, Geel, swans the difference would be night & day!

Sorry Couldn't resist!

Anyone else see that feeble effort to spoil at the 5 minute mark second quarter?

Maybe an early third round pick!! probably Adelaide might be interested.

I'm calling it!

Was that the one where Zaharakis actually attacked the contest and toumpas looked super tentative? It was appalling.

I would - if they showed something.

I think everyone accepts that we made the wrong choice.

Not everyone. I've said this before but it is simply too early to be definitive about whether we made the right or wrong choice. Of course the evidence thus far suggests Wines will be a better player (and i agree at this point in time McCrae actually looks the best player) but again as I've posted before history is full of examples where the early call on players has been wrong.

The best recent (and most relevant) example? Substitute the names Nik Nat and Watts for Wines and Toumpas and exactly the same sort of black and white statements were being made by most football fans, including posters here on DL.

If BRFE had posted after their first two seasons that everyone accepts that we made the wrong choice taking Watts instead of Nik Nat few would have disagreed. Whilst many might still argue we made the wrong choice I doubt it is an overwhelming majority (here on DL or more generally). If Watts has a good year and Nik Nat has another indifferent one then this time next year the majority might even say the dees made the right choice.

Ah um Yes!!

Say no more!

Or perhaps it was the one where the toump gut ran to receive the ball on the wing, ran 20 meters and delivered a beautifully weighted lace out kick to a leading Hogan (who dropped it 5 meters in the clear, something he seems to escaped all criticism for - it would have sealed the game if he marked and kicked truly).

Or maybe the previous NAB game where he repeatedly attacked the contest, including one brilliant effort where he went to a 2-1 contest in our forward pocket, won it and set up a goal.

You certainly don't speak on my behalf.

There are none so blind as those who will not see

Are you a coach? I'm asking seriously, not being factitious as this is high end coaching.

Not the 'ol 'kick it long' and 'let's do some circle work' that used to dominate my footy :)

That's very flattering Jumbo. I'm not even a footballer, just a keen tragic.

Simon Goodwin rates the toump, he will not be traded, but he really needs to nail down a spot, his game against the dogs is what I expect from him every week, he is a third year player and it's time to deliver. And personally I think he can, having watched him train up close all off season and seen some of the coaching that he's getting I certainly think his issues are 100% confidence

Of course you would. We all know that.

His game against the dogs was really good. Not so good against the bombers.

I'm not phased, he's hardly played 20 games. Given time I hope for more of the good games. Not worth slitting our wrists over just yet I wouldn't have thought.

Simon Goodwin rates the toump, he will not be traded,

How do you know this? Do you think he would tell anybody that Toumpas would be up for trade if he didn't perform?

I say trade him if he doesn't perform this year. If we don't trade him and we hold onto him for another year or 2 and he still doesn't perform then we get nothing for him like Morton.

Trade him for Butcher. We will get a forward that can help out Dawes and Hogan and if the rumors are true and Port really rated Toumpas on draft day they will probably think they can get more out of him than we could. Win\Win

It is quite appropriate to make the Watts vs. Nic Nat comparison. Watts was 10th in the Demons' B&F in 2014, Nic Nat was a comparable 9th in the Eagles' B&F the same year. Judging on pre-season form, Watts will become more valuable to us this year if Roos settles him in a constant role, while I cannot see any similar exponential improvement occurring with Nic Natanui. Wait until Toumpas has been given a similar opportunity to find his role and develop on his performance in the preseason and the Doggies match!

Delusional.

No just not losing the faith as many are on here.

The glimpse i saw against WB showed if he can put it all together he can become a handy footballer for us. He is obviously a confidence player.

If we can continue to hold on to players like Mckenzie and Watts for so many years then Toump deserves a bit of time aswell.

If you think im delusional your kidding yourself. Aren't you the one that thinks Stef Martin is still a spud and we made the right choice getting rid of him?? Now thats delusional right there.

You certainly don't speak on my behalf.

whilst you may not have chosen differently at the time, do you not see in hindsight at least ?

Expectations for Nic Nat are far greater than for Watts in 2015, primarily because for the first time he's ostensibly number one ruck.

Personally I rate both Lycett and Sinclair ahead of him.

Would do toumpas for butcher at this stage, but let's see what the score is at the end of the year. Huge pressure on both players to perform this year.

It's you're, not your, but I digress.....

There is no way in this whole wide world, universe, cosmic time, whatever paradigm exists in existence itself that Jimmy T will ever be as good as OV.

As for Stef Martin thingy? Don't cloud the discussion.

But i never said he will be better then Wines. Im saying that he will still be a good player for us down the track.

Its people like you that are willing to write him off completely which history have shown on here that its far too early to tell.

The whole Wines v Toumpas is stupid. We could have had had Zaharakaz instead of Blease. Sloane instead of Bennell and Fyfe instead of Gysberts.. [censored] happens hey?

For me im still going to back him in until he is traded or delisted. The glimpse he showed against WB got me excited.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
