We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

if the Saints can recruit Jaksch or another tall marking forward, then they will draft Petracca with P-1.

.... the Giants want Petracca as do most teams. So the Saints not being able to get a trade happening for a tall forward, helps us Re our P-2 value.

We have to ensure we get Jaksch, as he seems the key to our value of P-2. force the Saints to use P-1 on a tall forward.

My ideal: >

Mitch Clark to the Blues for P-7....

P-2, P-22 & R Bail, to GWS Giants, for (Shiel, Jaksch & Frost)

we then have: Dylan Shiel, (Frawley compo), P-7, Christian Jaksch, P-22, Frost, etc,,,

Mitch Clark for p-7? I wish...

Hahaha, d'landers spend the whole season bagging the spuds, yet miraculously, come trade period, the spuds on the list suddenly have currency.

Suddenly. Blease is equal to Robinson, suddenly Strauss and Evans is worth a 2nd rounder etc etc.

Support the club by all means, but if you know nothing about footy please keep your fingers off the keyboard and spare us the effort of having to scroll through all this bulls#it

Ignoring Mitch Clark for a top 10 pick for the moment... Would be interested to see how you rate the individual pieces in the bolded trade. Personally I'd have Shiel as a top 5 pick + steak knives, Jaksch around his original draft position (mid teens) and Frost as a late 2nd to mid 3rd rounder (40-50ish). Would think Bails value is close to 0.

I rate Shiel somewhere in the top 10 picks. Jaksch was around p-12 but now in demand would be higher. Frost is said to be around a 3rd Rndr.

Pick 2 is overs for Shiel atmo, Pick 22 is unders for Jaksch as he's so young. Bail is very valuable as a mature running player they may find useful as steak-knives, as the GWS have already mentioned they need to bring in mature players onto their young list.

I had a 3rd Rndr in my original draft, but decided to pull it out & Err on the Demons side of equation, rather than go conservative. the steak-knives could be worked out from our list but the gist of it is in there.

Mitch Clark in full flight is worth more than Pick 1... certainly not a 2nd Rndr. he will play great footy again.

He'll return to top footy, his foot is right & he'll cope with the depression. he's a creative person & losing constantly doesn't help express his creativity as well as being injured for so long during our down time.

stress is key to making depression, & being unable to help your mates is stressful.

Given Robinson has had basically no interest from any other club the blues might need to take whatever they can get for him in the washup

I think he just wanted out. Scumbag.

agh, you mean clark. I don't believe that, I'm sure he has depression but will overcome it from what I see of him.

#edit: its us who wants him to move on so we can get to a clean slate & build a completely new club culture. just as long as we get appropriate compensation... so talking him down isn't justice for us !!!

IMO most of the Pre 2009 players will be moved as we rebuild this clubs culture from the ground up... 50 yrs of nothing is far too long to not fix it the right way.

-------------------------------------------

Clark will be able to return to top footy as soon as his foot is right. The depression is common in creative type people of which Clark is, & also Clark has already arrived at the top level of AFL, so he will be able to get back to that level quick enough, as he's entering his prime.

He'll be a gun again. many players have played top shelf AFL with depression & starred. the Key is they developed into top footballers before the depression became a serious factor.

depression in a youngster is very damaging, it harms development.

Blease WILL be traded for Robinson.

I have not been informed whether an exchange of picks will also be a part of the deal though.

Interesting to read Emma Quayle's verdict that we are keen to snare Dylan Shiel or Adam Treloar from GWS.

Obviously either would be a huge coup for us and having Dom Tyson at the club will obviously help our chances.

I can't imagine Treloar being let go or wanting to go after his breakout season.

But the Giants may view Shiel as expendable and assuming we get pick No.3 as Frawley compo, it would seem a fair deal to me, but I'd also ask for their round 3 pick in return (about 40) - just so we can get back into third round.

Given that Roosy is also mentioned as quite keen on Brayshaw (possibly even more so than Petracca) then we have a chance to set ourselves up with a midfield that is deep, young and on par with most sides.

I would be happy with a Clark for O'Brien trade (both high risk) and if the Swans win the flag, I reckon we are a huge chance to nab Malceski, given we can offer him a far more lucrative deal than Buddy's Swans. I am worried that Macleski as a FA will water down the Frawley compo, so I'd offer our second rounder, which may seem unders for an AA defender, but he is 30 with dodgy knees and is a three-year proposition at best.

I am still hopeful we get Billy Stretch as a third-rounder F/S and the draft gurus seem a little divided on whether he's 2nd or 3rd rd.

We also need to add a tall defender to our list and Frost would seem handy and suit those needs. But to get him we would most likely need to get back into the second round and that means trading Watts (pick 25 to Blues) and/or Toumpas (pick 33-35) to Port.

That would give Roosy five new ins for Round 1 - Shiel, Frost, Malceski, O'Brien and Brayshaw - and six if you include Hoges.

And it would be a great mix of youth and experience.

On the draft front, obviously 98% of us know little about the actual players as yet, but I have two favourites that I'm hoping come our way.

1) Liam Duggan - we need a long left-footer for our back six - and the Western Jets midfielder has played a lot of footy down back and takes the kick-ins. The problem is that he seems to be rated around pick 10-20 - so we'd need to be extremely lucky and because he has a weapon foot, I can't see him slipping to 2nd rd.

2) Oscar McDonald - I always reckon that once you know a bit about an older brother, Tom, you can get a gauge on what development is likely to take place. Oscar is apparently starting to blossom (latish like Tom) and we know he comes from good country stock, so I'd reckon he'd be a great option for us as an early third rounder - assuming he still falls that far. If we did get pick 33-35 for Toumpas, then I'd be happy with us taking him there.

I don't disagree with you, but I think the fact that he could go depressed again is too reasonably foreseeable, hence lowering his currency to a 2nd rounder. I would deffs not expect a top 10 pick. Too much risk

I guess so.

The way I see it, Blease wasn't giving us much anyway. Might as well roll the dice on Robinson.

yep if this happens its only because they think they can iron out Robinsons stupid side. otherwise they're are surely better trade optins out there for blease who has talent But hasn't brought it. both attitude issues?

I live with depression every day of my life, I learnt about it in therapy for 25 - 30 years still now am learning about it, as I learn in other peoples examples, & then see mine.

I've have had it most likely since around 8 - 11 yrs of age, reactive depression, social phobia, anxiety etc. most people can't see it much of the time.

it can interfere with your focus when stressed out, but I cope OK I guess.

this last 15 months has been really tough, moving around the country, just me & little mate.

I wonder if the potential to secure his financial future, guarantee 23 senior games next year and the ability to play under Roosy would get Mitchell interested?

would be good to work out a deal that saw Mitchell and Malceski come to the dees next year.

Carlton fans are certain that he is theirs...their only willing to give up a second rounder though which shouldn't work. There will be much higher bidders

Sydney will want their pick 6 at the very least I reckon, he's a great young player.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
