Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

Just wondering when we landed the Tyson deal last year .

Was it on last day or earlier

Wonder if with gws losing Boyd they will offer up one of their mids for a pick upgrade to get them a tall

Think it was early. I believe GWS will go after pick 1 for Petracca and then keep either 4 or 6 to get Wright or McCartin.

Because we are at picks 2 and 3 and with the pies at 5 losing Beams and signing Darcy Moore one of the key forwards could slide.

Ideally GWS trade 4 and 7 for pick 1. Get Petracca at 1 and Wright at 6. Saints get McCartin at 4 and a midfielder at 7.

For us to move down from 3 to 6 or 7 then wouldn't be required, but I'd be considering it for the right deal for sure.

Yes there is.

Adding ready-made best-22 players will always give some bump - Vince, Tyson...Garlett, Lumumba. But more important is incremental improvement. Buddy, Hodge, Roughead, Lewis, Mitchell etc. all played in some mediocre sides early in the piece. I honestly don't know if there's a powerhouse dormant in this list, but the improvement needs to come from within. It's not possible to build a great team entirely from trades and free agency.

Expect improvement, expect some new faces, and there's a chance there are four worse teams than us next year.

We're totally on the same wavelength here pitchfork.

It would seem unfathomable to the public that Kennedy would be traded by Sydney

But, for reasons I wont go in to, I've just had conformation they're close.

We have a substantial offer on the table.

Party Boy Vince nice to see you back!

So where does this leave Sam Belase?

Delisted, or do we go again?

What's his Contract status?

Belase? Which club does he play for? Sorry but I'm in a bit of a malaise after 3pm!

So am I.

Good to c some clubs are getting what they want this trade!!

on a side note IMO NO ONE should be on holidays during this time.

Aren't we all on holidays or how else could we follow all this shite on DL?

The way some are going off would tempt the onlooker to suppose we didnt have Picks 2 and 3 up our sleeve

In the words of Kevin Sorbo - Disappointedddddddddddddddddd! (any babble-on fans will appreciate that)

Really hoped we could get a decent trade over the line (still tomorrow to go of course).

This team needs a boost from trading for a key player, the fans need the boost from getting a key player, and the way FA is going, we need to poach players before ours are all gone.

We need players to say, "I want to go to Melbourne".

Time for GNF to let the players and deals out now it's safe to say he will not be giving away the deal. Show me the money

The ultra positives are missing the point. Roos said a number if times that we need more midfielders and an a grade midfielder. He also said he didnt want to bring in too many kids.

I apologise for covering old ground but to be honest I haven't kept up with the demonland news very well recently. May I ask, has a crack in Trengove's foot cost us Patty Dangerfield (or another A grader)? Don't get me wrong I love Trenners and don't blame him, I'm just so curious.

If so, is there still any chance at all we either had a backup plan or that we will conjure up something that satisfies whomever we're dealing with. The second question I could probably just wait a day to find out, but for the first I would love to know if that appears to be the case.

Correct.

This wasn't what Roos wanted, so how can we not be disappointed?

Either he and the club didn't do their job properly, or Trengove's foot ruined everything.

That killed about 10 minutes. The are both the same distance from London. Is Kennedy here yet?

Josh Kennedy is grounded at JF Kennedy airport in New York due to traffic control. Roos is working behind the scenes to get the Concorde out of retirement so he gets here before tomorrow's deadline.

Exactly. If my memory serves me correct, he said that we have enough good young talent on our list already.

According to GNF there was a back up plan .. but it seems like that isn't happening either.

...or shyt happens and the trades they wanted just couldn't get done. It doesn't mean they didn't do their jobs properly.

I get the feeling the AFL'S decision re Sydney trading sent us to plan B which was Trengove and when that fell over we were left with nothing

Which goes to prove the short sightedness of the AFL's decision to disallow Sydney to trade players in. It cripples the clubs on the other side of the transaction too, not just Sydney.

Don't stress too much people. the dess were in on a number of deals (or should I say "trying to make deals happen"), but the lay of the land means nothing much has happened EXCEPT

1. There is still tomorrow

2. We have an excellent crumber now in our froward line

3. we have an excellent attacking PREMIERSHIP player in our backline

4. We WILL get Sam Frost, part of the future backline

5. AND we still have picks 2, 3 & 23 (my favorite numbers those)

So as Monty Python used to say...."Always look on the bright side of life* * * * * * * *" (didn't know what I could put in for the little whistle).

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
