As far as I am concerned the next premiership coach is employed at the hawks at present .

By the end of 2016 he will be available.

End of story for mine.

sorry old I had to edit you forgot your spell check

Garry Lyon can stay the f**k out of any coaching discussions! Sorry Red, had to get that off my chest.

He can discuss all he likes...

just don't let him choose

I reckon the succession coach is already locked in place. I have no idea who it is but there is simply no statements coming from within the club officially or on the quiet to dodgy journalists. What I love about the MFC at the moment is that there are no leaks, unless they are carefully and deliberately managed from within.

I'm still leaning towards Lingy.....

Me too.

He dropped the "not even sure I want to coach" as the heat was getting out of hand and affecting his role on Channel 7.

Since that carefully planned remark, it has completely died down and we've not heard another word.

My money is on Ling with Bomber to come in also.

Wouldn't be a bad combo....

While the combo sounds good (with Roos til 2016) can we afford that?

Yes, yes got to spend money to make money, but we're on pretty shakey ground ATM and Bomba wouldn't be far away from Roos' coin

I will put this out there.....the next coach has already been sewn up - Mark Thomson. He has been treated appallingly by the bombers, will be stabbed in the back when the French Prince returns, is a great coach, he and Roos are great mates, Jackson thinks he is the "ants pants", and he will want revenge - big time!

I proffer the following scenario: 29 mins into the final quarter the bombers lead the dees by 5 points in the 2017 grand final. Watts grabs the ball in the centre bounce, kicks 60 metres for hogan to take a screamer 55 meters out, the siren sounds, and he dobs it half goal, post height (Buckannara like). Hird goes nuts! And refuses to come out of the coaches box.

Thomson has nothing more to prove and gives Hird the "two finger" salute.

Oh what bliss!!!

Let's not forget that Thomson was a part of the whole Essendon debacle. I'm not sure I want him at our club unless he is unequivocally cleared by ASADA. Call me suspicious, but wasn't Dank involved at Geelong when Thomson was coaching them?

The Weapon was. I don't think Dank was on the scene though.

Call me suspicious but I doubt he was far away.

There are articles from around 2007-2008 where Robinson was interviewed and gave a lot to credit to his friend Dank, who he'd worked with previously, and who he spoke to daily for advice.

But Dank was not a Geelong employee or consultant.

Make of that what you will.

But I'm not sure you could blame Thompson for those that Robinson chooses to associate with.

I get the feeling that, especially after the Essendon drugs saga, Thompson would value quality of life over money.

He'd get paid well, be in an environment around like-minded individuals, in a position (assistant) where the heat is off him once again, but wouldn't need the top shelf salary. As has been mentions previously, MT does have a fair nest egg set aside.

Btw he'd be on big bucks after reluctantly being pushed into the head coach's chair.

They must have thrown a lot of money to coerce him into doing something he so steadfastly did not want to do.

At MFC he'd go back to being an assistant, and a commensurate salary.

I'd struggle with that. He has been around the Dank affair at 2 clubs. He has the stink on him. He also looks lost at times in the coaches box. "Games past him".

Yeh right. Wish we could struggle so much.....it is great if your coach struggles to two flags. What a dream come true!

Thompson has made millions from property while at Geelong. Money is not the issue. A burning desire to prove doubter wrong, and to right the injustice of what Essendon are about to do to him are the real issues...

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
