Getting totally out classed by Geelong by 11 goals (66 points ) when we would have got done by 100 points in the past is a big improvement!

If Geelong had kicked reasonably it would have been 100.

Checked the supplies jr and i had what I thought was plenty, had to use tissues by five last night.

I think we understand it's going to take a while to fix this mess.

There is some improvement, albeit having fallen away in the last few weeks. But the efforts against Richmond and Carlton in particular were better than anything seen under Neeld.

The trajectory is upward, it's just easy to forget with how poorly the side has played recently which could be as much to do with players running out of legs as anything else. Tyson is a perfect example of that.

The point I'm attempting to make is how his apparent lack of interest in viewing the Melbourne listed players at casey, doesn't help the development of a strong club culture. And i think that's a valuable asset that can be improved even when on-field results aren't pleasing. I'm reasonably confident a few of the senior guys might make a bit more of an effort to go along and support their team-mates if they thought the coach might show up! There were plenty of collingwood guys out at casey when they played the scorpians. Saw the pies captain that day. It's just a little thing, but combined with the decision to publish sometimes scathing reviews on the Melbourne webpage while at the same time jumping in to defend any senior player singled out for criticism just seems like double standards to me. Roos talks the talk about the guys being scarred and needing a bit of nurturing, but in this instance doesn't walk the walk. He's achieved great outcomes with jettta and pedo, but reckon he could maybe do a bit better in this instance.

Our poor investments in drafting have killed us. No news here. Having failures (so far) in Toumpas so recently doesn't help. The next 8 players picked after him are all in their clubs best 22 playing week in week out. I only have blind hope for him but he's a worse pick than morton at this stage. He had double hip surgery before he was drafted they say. Then why would you invest so much in a kid who's body was cooked?

Neck and neck at this stage but Toumpas certainly has time on his side.

Toumpas' training standards are high, he shows glimpses of the class he has, but I think he has had the confidence knocked out of him bigtime by his first year and a half.

Cale, again showed a little class at times, I felt he was a little bit lazy, was soft, had all the talent but had no guts

PS - they showed footage of Jesse Hogan jogging and he looked very proppy.

Hope is that he'll play one AFL game this year.

Looking forward to Jesse pulling a boot on and if he manages to play a senior game I'm sure the spirits of the faithful will receive a lift.

I witnessed his pre season game v GCS in 2013 and he is a special talent.

Been another tough season however under Roos we have improved in many areas and the second half on Saturday proves that theory.

I seriously hope i don't see him at all this year and they wrap him in cotton wool, getting him back to 110% fitness between now and pre season. With our luck, if he does play his first game later this year, he'd likely go down in a screaming heap with some freak of an accident like a broken ankle, something only the MFC seems to be able to pull from the mire with anyone looking like they might be a potential superstar.

A full pre season to gain some extra strength, fitness and confidence in his bod and offer some hope to the others who might be left to play with him next year if he makes it.

A full clean out of most of the present list at year's end... ie., pretty much a new "Roos" derived list for 2015 to begin the new rebuild of a rebuild of a rebuild (and yes i realise this would take more than one pre season, but hey, at this point Roos wont be there to coach in the 3rd year....ughh)......and....you never know....we might finally see a new side playing consistent AFL standard footy. Who knows, we might then start kicking a half decent score that might worry the opposition a few more times than the 4 we've seen so far.

Regardless, i would be extremely surprised (and dissapointed) if Roos made such a dumb decision as to play him for one or 2 matches later this year given where Hulk is coming from injury wise and the present state (losing mentality) of this group. If he does, it would be for purely selfish reasons and not in the short or long term interests of Hogan IMO.

My point was based on the premise that if we were down by 59 points at half time over the past 5 years then the resultant margin would have been significantly greater than a further 7 points.

If I'm incorrect perhaps you could point out the games I have overlooked.

I can understand your frustration however I refuse to be ultra negative when IMO the second half on Saturday was quite a good effort.

I reckon the AFL lie about attendances.

At the very least, they are doing their best to hide them. Channel 7 used to always show the crowd in the last few minutes of the game, no matter how big or small; now they only do it when the crowd meets or exceeds expectations. Didn't show it for yesterday's Pies-Dons clash, which looked small for such a fixture. I bet they've been gagged by the AFL.

We were horrible on Saturday - I try very hard to remain positive and the only glimmers I took out of the game was Viney and Riley and we managed a shutdown job in the second half.

The other thing I would like to refute is week in week out I hear - "if they had kicked straight we would have been done by 100 points". I took note of the first quarter where they kicked 3.7 - we rushed 3 behinds. One kick was well outside 50 and touched . Two were from tight angles - one only was a gimme that was missed. To OD - sometimes the scoreboard ain't all it seems to be.

edit - i know the scoreboard said we got done by 11 goals - but look beyond that
