What are people's thoughts on targeting Jake Neade (from PA)?

Burst onto the scene last year, playing almost every game, and setting the standard for PA fwd line pressure acts.

This year he has played just the one game (against us in Alice Springs- got dropped the week after).

Got a 2 year contract during his first season, however that means little in today's game. Great mates with Dom Barry (doesn't mean he'd choose Melbourne, just a fun fact). I Wouldn't be surprised if other clubs were monitoring him.

Could be a very handy addition to our list given the lack of small forwards, and because he's not getting a game at Port we wouldn't have to give up much.

Bail, JKH, Nicholson? Not to mention I'd prefer to play Evans in that role over Neade.

Really nice suggestion.

Jake is elite in his ability to apply forward pressure which is something we've struggled with. We finally have some taller targets in Frawley, Dawes, Gawn etc but once it's on the ground we lack the types that keep it in there.

While JKH, Salem, Bail are all playing a small forward roll I would argue those players aren't playing the same type of small forward roll someone like Jake could fill as they are more forward flankers->midfielders.

I also really rate Cam O'Shea. I have no idea why he isn't getting a game or his contract situation but he is 193 with the ability to play big and small. He get's a bit of the ball and uses it pretty well. On top of which he has a really good intercept mark.

I am not interested in him. We have Kent, Evans, JKH who are all ahead of him in my opinion. Not to mention Jayden Hunt who hasnt played and is most likely even quicker.

Having both Neade and JKH in the same forward line would be exciting to see. Whenever we get the ball inside 50, we do seem to struggle to keep it in there for long enough periods. I am often saying "where are our crumbers" at games of footy.

As JVFP has pointed out, we do have several options ahead of him, however, Kent should be used as a flanker who goes up into the midfield, Evans i don't even know if he is contracted for next year (and if he will be around next year), JKH is our only small forward and Hunt, whilst he hasn't played a game, i think is being groomed as a half-back flanker, where his pace will be used to break the lines and get it quickly in to our forwards.

If we had both JKH and Neade, then one would be able to go up the ground and contest the loose balls, whilst the other could stay home in the forward 50 (along with a tall).

I wouldn't give up more than a 3rd rounder for him, which Port would laugh at. Our second rounder will be tied up with Billy Stretch.

It's not because we don't have them.

It's because you fail to realise they have been caught upfield or have not run hard enough to make the contest.
