Mind you, Liam Jones isn't much of a scalp...

He was great two weeks ago against the Pies.

And yet you mentioned Terlich ! There were plenty of errors made out on the ground that shouldn't be made.

The constant bashing of Frawley is doing my head in ( not by you) . I have no problem on a emotional level on those that wish to bash him over the contract negotiations - we want all players to be loyal and sign up on the clubs timnetable - not the players. But the bagging of his form is purely motivated or clouded by his reluctance to re-sign (or because he is already gone) and is just not an accurate portrayal of how he has played this year.

I only mentioned Terlich because he was the only other player on the ground, that I saw, that had the ball go through his legs and clean bowl him.

I've been a fan of Frawley but I guess I just got sick of him costing us goals and he does it every week; this week it cost us the game. He makes many poor decisions that other players aren't allowed to get away with.

C'mon RF, he's been playing forward most of the year, and is 2nd on our goal kicking. Are you implying that even when playing forward he still costs us goals?

There were a lot of contributing factors as to why we lost yesterday. Frawley is a long way down the list of them.

I know.

And it's the only good game I've ever seen him play.

Didn't Grgic have a day out against Collingwood once?

How many times is this going to be written?

It seems I have seen this type of article several times already. I'm not disagreeing with it but geez I have had enough already.

Remember it's the players that wanted FA and until we become a better side IMO we will lose most of our FA's if not all.

why the angst

surely the more its written and spoken of the better the possibility something might occur to redress it ? just saying

Smart clubs can make the most of FA.

You guys like Bernie Vince yeah?

FA helped us get him.

It got us the pick and smart people in our Footy Dept turned it into Vince.

I agree. Was it all just well thought through cleverness ?? or good fortune

We've switched on early , it seems. We wont get free slather for much longer

Yep, and pretty soon the compensation for losing a player will be discontinued.

The ONLY way free agency can work is if players can be traded without their say-so.

While I agree that trade protection should be removed, if players are enjoying FA then they will soon learn that their careers are fleeting and the desire for coin will mean the talent will further spread around the league.

But again, smart clubs will progress, and dumb clubs will have a bad time.

As it has always been...

where do you think we are at this fledgling stage ?

Wow G Lyon didn't miss Frawley on classified.

Which probably means we should sign Frawley now and watch him dominate.

Said he was an elite defender but poor decision making and poor kick. One elite aspect and nothing else.

I'd argue he's got great run and whilst a shaky mid range kick he can be a penetrating low long kick and it's unfair to judge a guy in his first game in the backline in regards to decision making.

I also think he underestimates just how important a gun key defender can be for a team when he says no one will pay him 750k.

Don't get me wrong Frawley's last quarter didn't impress me and he's a player who needs to improve if he does sign the big contract. If he goes, he goes. But that's a different thing than saying he only has one talent.

Really savaged him, didn't he?

Said, quote ' poor kick, horrible kick of the footy. He makes really bad decisions with ball in hand.'

'Doesn't compute quick enough' Did, however, soften the attack somewhat by saying that his greatest skill 'was judging the flight of the ball, in relation to his opponent'

Not worth the coin, according to Gazza.....looked filthy!

Watching Gazza couldn't shake the feeling he knows more than we do, with regards to Frawley's status. Sounds like he's out the door and Lyon is letting him know what he really thinks.

Maybe he thinks that Chip is really just a Spud!

I thoght exactly the same. I recon Gazza knew a lot more than we do. If Chip uis going I recon Gazza shold be taliking him up so we maximise the compensation.

The more I see of Chip the more I thnk he is gone. I would love him to resign and I dont think we can afford to lose solid developed players from the club but I just cant see him staying. He might not be the sharpest peanut in the turd but even he can see the hard road ahead for clubs like the Dees and knows his best chance of a permiership medal lies elsewhere.

Didnt watch so can only take it from this that it was quite interesting ..lol

I essentially agree with Lyon in so much as to Chips qualities. Any side reference to other 'things" ...who knows.

Some aspects though, for consideration. It is hardly Chips first game in defence. Secondly as a gun fwd in his day Lyon would be only too aware of how important a good defender is.

Chip is not a first or even 5th year player. He's a well seasoned member of the Dees. He oughtnt be "learning" anything as opposed to refining some aspects.

I thought that the first goal that Bontempelli kicked on him was worse than the second. Chip got very lost very quickly. The last goal was, as commentators like to say , "chaos ball".

I will say that one commentator said that he should have rushed it for a behind. Numnuts - the scores were level at that stage. We certainly didn't want to give up a goal - but we didn't want to give up a point either.

Actually a point , if rolling the dice isnt a poor result as it gives you possession and then its up to you

You are spot on BB, it would have given us a chance to re load and control possession as a centre bounce after a goal is by no means a definate win for us at this stage. I know it is all good and well in hindsight (I would be the richest man on earth if I did possess that), but in that circumstance a rushed behind would have been a better result than the goal.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
