Watts at times over the past 4 games has ran through congestion, gathered the hard ball then broke away to dispose of it. Why can't this happen more often? Why is he hesitant? I know he's great on the outside but taking the game on with his skills and pace would take his game to a new level.

I really can't understand how/why Watts is copping so much, he is only 4 games into being a midfielder and he looks fantastic with ball in hand which is what he is there for, he also had 4 tackles yesterday which i'm not sure what he normally does but i feel is perfectly acceptable.

He'll choose his contests, that's for sure....but his role is not to crunch. We've got Tyson, Viney, Cross and Jordie to do that.

Well if it's confidence I don't get it. When he has attacked the ball he can elude the opposition, it's not like he's getting caught all the time. The coaches should be showing him highlights of himself and say "more of the same please".

What makes you think they aren't? It's a hard won thing, self belief. New role, new expectations, new instructors. We can all see it, but his awareness of his own ability is not fully realised yet, of which the same could be said of the team. More good games, more encouragement, and he'll trust himself more, and I reckon we've got the right coaching staff to make it happen.

I've always said that Watts will be, at some point, our best/most important player. I'm more and more confident that I will be vindicated by the end of this season.

He's a gem, coming into his own, with a coach who finally knows how to get the best from him.
