I watch these guys play with no spirit no genuine heart and in half the team's case, no talent. It must disgust the players like Vince and Cross who have come from clubs that think putting in every week is what you are supposed to do.

GWS beat Sydney. We had no rucks and a forward line that was so good we needed to play our best backs there. Sure the skills need more polish than a million tonnes of Mr Sheen, and we have half a dozen players that aren't up to the mark, but it is really wrist slitting time?

When you play every bounce from CHB and, have zero forwards and a bunch of guys learning (yet another) way to play what are you really expecting?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think any of this is something to take heart from but the half a team we had on the park over the last couple of weeks showed more than the full teams we had under Neeld.

There is a hell of a lot of work to do - a hell of a lot - but there is less to do than this time last year. We need some tall talent and we need this group to trust each other. That won't happen in a week or two and it was never going to happen in a week or two.

Would have been good if Brad Johnson could have pronounced Melbourne right most of the time.

I agree with many of your sentiments although playing the patience card is starting to sound very much like a broken record. Roos is currently coaching with one hand tied behind his back, the lack of ruck strength and forward power is particularly telling and whatever he does now is like shuffling deckchairs on the Titanic. The way things are, there's little sign of any relief for a while. Hence, we'll just keep rolling on hoping for miracles.

You are right and as I said earlier I wasn't as disappointed with yesterday's performance as some others were. What I am [censored] off with is the efforts of some of our so called better players. All I can reasonably expect is each player to play to their capabilities and try, it's not their fault if they're just not good enough. That's why I'm frustrated with Howe and Grimes and Watts more than Pedersen, Spencer and Bail. I can accept some players don't have the skill but I'll never accept being lazy and playing with no heart.

The Dawes and Clark deals have absolutely screwed MFC. If and when these guys ever get back, there'll be nothing but a shattered team left.

The disastrous turn of events is nobody's fault. When these two were signed, there was great excitement on this board.

The Clark decision will be finalised today, but I believe Dawes still has much to offer.

The NQRs on our list are creating the constant angst. They're just not up to AFL standard.

I would add that Pederson, Spencer Bail etc would look a lot better if they were playing in a side that Watts, Grimes, Frawley and Howe were firing.

The situation (with Dawes & Clark) has been pretty fiercely debated on these forums. Lack of accountability is how we got to where we are (from previous boards down). "Nobody's fault" is no longer something I can swallow. It's well known that Dawes has always had a degenerative knee condition and although other's have suffered the same and still had a career, far more haven't so it was always a risky proposition. There's a reason other clubs passed up on him.

That there's a decision on Clark today is a good thing. Clark deserves the personal support, but if it's time to move on and look forward, it's in everyone's best interests.

Jamar, well I just can't seen him getting back to AFL level form given he's almost had as much time away for actually playing as Clark has.

Gawn will be handy given his height but he'll never be a Sandilands. I think he's our best chance at a long term prospect but if a Grundy type pops up in the draft we'd seriously have to consider.

Fitzy and Pedo will give some respite at either end of the ground and in the centre when required but we can't rely on them to provide clearance quality ruck work.

Looks like a prospect for sure. Back injury at such a young age is not ideal.

Yeah, but i have been told that was to do with growing so quickly, his doctors don't think it's an ongoing issue which is reassuring, i really like the idea though, blokes may get more tired but guys this tall will be a handful from the first bounce til the end of the game
