Dees by 28. We will respond to Roosy's challenge. You watch!

I'm happy with the way it's progressing. It was never going to be a quick fix for Roosy and the Club. Don't be fooled, it will take time and I admire Roos for starting the re build and then handing over to someone to finish the job. I hope he stays with the MFC in some capacity so he can enjoy the fruits of his labours one day in the not too distant future.

as I said : "according to Roos himself, winning games at this point is secondary to installing a properly functioning culture"

in other words I don't care how good their forwards are or who would play FB

we won't win either way

how are you supposed to overhaul a shoddy culture if you don't make a few heads roll

The problem with what you suggest is that some poor undersized inexperienced kid will come in and have his career all but destroyed. It gives Frawley a get out of jail free card at the moment but when Garland comes back then all bets are off.

It will also be interesting to see if Frawley goes back to Casey if he doesn't sign up, or looks like moving on. Roos has stated previously he's not in the business of developing players for other clubs.

Watching the Hawks, Cats and Pies this weekend, I just want Melbourne to:

1. Be first to the ball in a contest

2. Show some desperation

That's the attitude that the top sides have, and we don't.

When I watch those sides I feel as though I'm watching teams in different leagues. I just don't understand why Melbourne can't do these basic things.

You talk about culture, C&B, but your insensitive remarks about the plight of Mitch Clark tells me you aren't looking for a good culture, you're looking for a good public flogging.

I don't think Roos would agree that they are non-trying 'pea hearts,' in fact, I don't think he would ever think that of a player.

That's why went and got him - because he knows what a good culture looks like. We haven't seen anything near it for close to a decade.

I think it speaks loudly and clearly that these people making comments like C&B simply don't understand culture.

They see Geelong or Hawthorn or Sydney winning, and that's what they want, but they have no understanding of the culture behind that.

It's borne of ignorance.

They can't help it.

why can't you?

he's the 1.5 million dollar man and he's just coached a 93 point loss, i think some bold statements are entirely appropriate, if not necessary

If the team was selected solely on form, one third of the side would be at Casey.

Team balance is an issue for a start and of course common sense also applies.

Given the heads who were rolled this week, bold statements as you put it have commenced and the rest of the boys are now on notice that Roos means business.

In a strange kind of way I want to see how Roos deals with all this adversity and poor performances....

I want to see some Dees W's but based on what I've seen at the moment I am no expecting much. I just hope we're in the game up to half time these days even against GWS

Until we clear out most of the players from 2011 & 2012 and install players who want to play AFL football rather than just collect a pay cheque this team is going nowhere. Even Roos will be killed by these players, he will take his 2 year contract and leave.

lazy when oppo had the pill.

watched him stand at chb in 1st quarter as 3 wc players jogged past him when ball was at the other side of oval,

as soon as wc had a clear run,he was left flat footed as 2 unmarked wc players waxed the pill for an open goal.

did this twice in the first 20 minutes and coaching staff would have been ropeable, just lazy football, not skill error but pure laziness.

Interesting comment. Michie split his eyelid in the first minute from a boot heel. Lost his contact lens and then copped a couple of stitches. Could not wear a contact for the rest of the game. I would be questioning why there were 3 WC players able to jog by unattended. That would annoy me as a coach. Watched the Casey game today. Nothing to see there from MFC. Number 17 and 20 were probably best. Trenners, Toump and Michie serviceable but nothing to suggest they will be in the magoos again next week baring injury. Jamar okay. Poor standard and poor skills from both sides.

Lets assume its a 35 point loss, we stuck with them for 3 quarters bit they ran away with it in the last. Usual players with high numbers for us Jones, Vince, Terlich and Viney. Move onto round 4.........!

Sorry to quote myself but...

you missed Tyson.

Tyson is having a great start to his career with us, I love watching him play. He is one of the players that tempted me to turn it on and watch it today.

I suppose the decision to drop Trengove and Toumpas was made early last week but I wonder if this was a bit premature? Here we were dropping two players perceived to be slow in the very week when Sydney is lashed by heavy rain.

The slow would have just got slower.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
