Melbourne round two vs Best
B: Lynden Dunn, James Frawley, Alex Georgiou (Col Garland)
HB: Jack Grimes, Tom McDonald, Dean Terlich (?)
C: Jack Trengove (?), Dom Tyson, Daniel Cross
HF: Jack Watts, Cam Pedersen (Chris Dawes), Jimmy Toumpas
F: Jeremy Howe, Jack Fitzpatrick (Mitch Clarke), Rohan Bail (Jessie Hogan)
FOLL: Jake Spencer (Max Gawn), Nathan Jones, Bernie Vince
I/C: Shannon Byrnes, Matt Jones (Jack Viney), Jay Kennedy-Harris, Viv Michie,

The sad fact is we playrd near the best side last week minus a quality forward or two. We were flogged but I cant see too many changes to the backline or midfield. Most teams play with at least a couple of the best 22 in rehab.

Garland is not a game changer in the backline and neither is Gawn in the ruck. Jack Viney is ripper but we cant expect his inclusion to turn the middfield around

Are Terlich and Trengove in the best 22? I am not convinced with either player and would consider MacKenzie for Terlich and M Jones, Evans, Blease and Kent as replacements for Trengove especially if pace is a consideration.

What is your best side and can the current list be competetive with a good dose of confidence and some more time learining the game plan?

Agree. That is our best 22. Very few teams get their best 22 out there for many games in a season, so a big part of the problem is depth. As a rebuilding team (again), ours is very very shallow.

Clearly our best effort for the year was the NAB win against Richmond notwithstanding suggestion that the opposition might have coasted a bit.

The players involved are the same as the ones playing now bar Barry, Blease, Evans, King, McKenzie and Strauss (not many big names there).

The forward line was without Clark, Dawes, Hogan AND Fitzy. Spencer rucked. The win came upon the the back of an intensity at the contest but this was mostly missing last week and to a degree against St Kilda. It seems to me that a number have decided that the game style is 'too hard'. Trengove was arguably our best FFS.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
