IF we are fair dinkum...

There is also evidence to suggest that we haven't been able to follow up after any game, played anywhere in Australia, for a few years now. Darwin has nothing to do with it.

We need to face the fact that we are playing games there over the foreseeable future. Not only do we get money from playing the games there, but we get a foothold into the NT which can help sponsorships and future memberships. Using this 'follow on' effect from playing games there is a cheap and sort sighted attitude. As they say, we need to win games no matter where we play them and learn to back it up the next week.

um no

you are wrong. What is your argument? It's basically 'well we suck anyway so we might as well suck more'

please explain to me this 'foothold' you speak of in sponsorship and members in the NT (how many is that? about 20?) and how that has a higher value than everything that is lost when the team loses by 100 points

it's obviously a disadvantage in the following weeks, clubs like Collingwood and Hawthorn must have a giggle at us when we turn up badly prepared and the proceed to [censored] us without mercy

the disaster that was yesterday has probably done more damage than will be recovered with 20 NT games. I am sure I am not alone in feeling like all the good will that started to build up with the Roos tenure has just completely been wiped away and we might as well be at round 2, 2013 with that [censored] Neeld giving the worst pre-game speech you've ever seen, live on national TV, to precursor a flogging that would normally be seen at junior football level. I am absolutely sick of it. IDGAF what anyone says, reigning premiers, preseason, missing key players, yes that's all true but we were outscored 18 goals to 2 after quarter time and quite frankly we don't deserve to be in the Australian Football League if that's the pathetic level of competition we dish out.

yet you are in favour of putting more things like this pathetic NT venture against us

we have to be the dumbest sporting organisation in the world and clearly some of our supporters follow suit

edit: BTW that censored word is F-L-O-G. A perfectly legitimate word. the censorship on here is about as functional as the melbourne football club oh dear the second censored word is I-D-I-O-T ooooh naughty naughty words

Anyone know the latest NT Membership figure?

Last year it was around 40.

Hardly groundbreaking. But the $$$ helps.

Will not help us onfield.

are you serious? 40?

my god... what kind of cretins do we have running this club and from what cereal box did they obtain their various degrees

Yes i am sadly.

The Cashola from the NT Govt must be good because i can't see much else.

We got this deal because no one else wanted it. That is so obvious.

What's yours? You're basing it on the fact that we got smashed by the reigning premier. We played with no forward line to speak of and our midfield was totally outclassed by the best team in the comp. Darwin has nothing to do with that. The gulf in ability and class is what did us in.

You can't say that when we come back from the NT that it changes anything in terms of how we play. We won two games last year and stunk it up regardless of where we played.'

But, hey, you go ahead and crack it about a pre-season game. Throw a few things around the house, have a go at a few posters, eat some curry and drink some beer even. But the fact remains blaming the NT for how we play is an excuse, and a soft one at that. We should be able to play anywhere and follow it up the next week. We should be able to travel and get ourselves up the following week. It's just facts.

well you've managed to address precisely zero of the points I made and reiterated the same idiotic message you started with. It's a clear disadvantage for a club that least needs disadvantages.. what do you work for the NT government or something? staggering

No, I work in reality. The club needs the money. Right at this point in time that supersedes anything else we can do at the minute. Roos and Jackson sell the club, but any supporter with half a brain knows that the money we get from playing games up there is crucial to our survival in the short term.

Yes, results play a huge role in this too, but that will come. Once we are stable and the club is more competitive then we won't need to play games up there anymore, but right now we don't have that choice.

I still like this paragraph from you though:

"the disaster that was yesterday has probably done more damage than will be recovered with 20 NT games. Disaster? How old are you? 10? Most over the top, ludicrous paragraph posted after a pre-season game I've ever seen.

It was a bit over the top, but I feel the same amount of disappointment as C&B. Especially for the people who mad the effort to go and support the team yesterday. That is a joke, If the team is going to turn up and play like that it would be good to let the supporters know so they can stay home and do some weeding or something equally as enjoyable.....guarantee you C&B we would have had about 30 inside 50's yesterday compared to Hawthorns 65-70.

Is it possible that some people have not signed up for a membership based on yesterday's result?

you're even saving me the trouble of quoting things that need to be presented to you again

Why don't we get a sporting goods company to pay us to wear flippers instead of football boots? Sure it will cost us games but think of the money. Shame that after 8 years of the embarrassing torture that is supporting this club we won't have any members or anyone turning up to games. You are dead wrong when you say short term financial decisions supersede onfield results. The biggets earner of all is winning games and having a club you can be proud to support

Nobody with a functional brain can excuse losing like that to anybody, at any time of year, with any amount of players out. How can anybody argue that we are better off now than we were under Neeld or Bailey, obviously nothing has changed and the red and blue remains a disgrace and the laughing stock of the competition

Of course it is... and of course we continue to get shoddy fixturing because the league and the other clubs don't rate us and sponsors don't want a bar of us. I know if I was looking to put my business on the jumper of an AFL team I would not be selecting the side that plays on sunday evenings and gets flogged every time they take the field

We need to WIN GAMES to make money, it's a very simple concept

I must say it always fascinates me that Victorian Clubs have to sell games interstate to make some $$$ after Etihad Stadium opened. A privately owned stadium that has at least 4 clubs on the drip feed.

That Stadium is the worst decision in the history of the game.

The AFL Commission should buy it out tomorrow lock stock and barrell. A clean stadium for all "home" fixtures.

Then i would consider Vlad a reasnoable CEO at $3.4 mill.

Very true C and B

However there will be numerous people telling us it is only a practice and we will make the eight this year.

Why don't we just take up Geelong's offer of a couple home games a year at Simmonds Stadium. Isn't there like a 300 - 500k cheque attached to each game?

Won't have to worry about the effects of the following week and the majority of members can travel down for $20 on the train.

-----------

Ahh stuff it what would I know about the economics of footy.

It should surely not he an unreasonable fixture request to have our bye after a Darwin match ( and our opponents for that matter).

And a night match in Alice in winter may have us complaining about the cold - gets pretty frisky soon after sunset mid winter.

Even half of Vlad's 3.4M would go a long way to alleviating the financial woes caused by Doglands..
