Interesting comment from the MRP:

Contact between Hawthorn’s Jordan Lewis and Melbourne’s Nathan Jones from the first quarter of Saturday’s practice match was assessed. The panel said the ball was bounced in the centre with Lewis and Jones going towards the ball from opposite directions. Lewis punched the ball with his left arm and then made high contact with Jones. It was the view of the panel that Lewis was contesting the ball and the high contact made to his opponent was accidental after he had made contact with the ball. No further action was taken.

Didn't they put Jack Zeibel out for three weeks for hitting someone high while going for the ball? Good to know they are keeping it consistent.

Btw, I've been meaning to say, how good was Sam Mitchell in close ? He's amazing. So slippery and so composed. He waits for the last moment to release a handball, which is invariably perfect. He balks, blind turns, does the shimmy, he's just so hard to tackle.

His placement of kicks both feet is also superb. Shows that you don't have to be the quickest player going around, he would be close to the quickest thinker though.

He see's everything in slow motion, this is a big plus Tyson has going for him.

We played three finalists from last year in our preseason. I think thats a great introduction to realities for our list this year.

Our Rnd 1 opponents have played the Dogs, GWS and Port and still not won a thing.

Post 60 Of this thread I made my thoughts plain, it was a very bad idea. I think Bagdad Bob agreed, many others wanted to bring it on. I think the issue revolves around how post NAB challenge matches are determined. If MFC had no say, there is no further need for discussion. However if MFC had some say in who we played, I then have to question the managements thinking. We would have wanted a home match at Casey against someone we had not played in the challenge, so the options are limited, given The Blues, the Tiges and some others would want home games. Does anyone know the rules?

We had just played the team that came 5th and the team that came 3rd and done ok.

We also had to play a team that played around the time that we did in the NAB Challenge or the break between matches wouldn't sync up.

I don't think it will be such a disaster to their confidence.

Roos is trying to build a resilient team, he has a chance to work on that.
