He's in the market apparently for a Contax 645 (medium format film - 2nd hand, only $3000-4000) and he is doing his own D&P.

Also he's offering limited-placement 3 hour tutorials for $300.

I'd rather he spent three hours in the gym earning a quid.

I can't believe you are posting on here when you could be working and earning a quid!

Now I am one of those people who go to work and work and then go home and do non work stuff like pursuing hobbies. Quite normal really.

This thread has degenerated into utter twaddle.

Grant Hackett didn't have any interests outside of swimming. Looks like that's worked out for him

If it were just a hobby be wouldn't be trying to make money out of it..

Why?

The photography may have started out as a hobby but it has become much more than that. Selling prints, tutorials, a web-page (other than a Facebook Page), an escalating interest and investment in more and better equipment and so on. The Photography Bug can bite hard and I speak from experience.

I posted some time ago that the word I got was that his football had taken a back seat to his photography.

He reportedly approached the club to be the 'club photographer' (for payment.

Don't bank on seeing Mitch on the field any time soon. Motivation is the key issue, not fitness.

Jesus - can we please put the photograpghy thing to bed. It's a hobby get over it! would you rather him taking photos or out at night clubs. He is in the leadership group for a reason. Mitch is doing everything he can and if that turns out to not be enough (I think he will be fine) then I will still hold the door for him on his way out.

And where did you hear this? I call BS (again).

Gold. Pure Comedy Gold.

' Please PJ, i know that i'm on 450k a year but it would be swell if you could pay me say 3k to to the club cub reporter. It'd be outside the salary cap coz its not footy. I'm over footy actually, playing that its is - i'm super keen to take photos of other blokes playing footy. No PJ i'm not joking, i'm dead set serious'

I'll add to this.

I understand PJ that the club can't afford to pay 100% of the salary cap, and Chip is a Free Agent, but if you can pay me more to take some photos during training, I'll appreciate this. Forget the bigger picture, my photos are top notch.

Yes I know a club can't pay it's players outside the salary cap., but my photos are more important to the club and its members than Chip playing against the gorillas in the comp.

Seriously. Who would believe it??

He asked for $50k for the photographic work.

>6 weeks to get over a hammy twinge or whatever he or the club is stating is BS. It's where his head is at that's the problem.

50k? You do realise a club can't make payments to a player outside the salary cap yeah? Given the club can't afford to pay 100% of its cap and Chip will demand good money, your claim has to be wrong.

Your informant is off track to say the least.

Proof please... I still call BS on EVERY thing you have written above... He is getting along to the club and training in the gym and running laps on official training days and non training days. He photographs in his spare time and he is very good at it... so who cares if he wants to make a little on the side... but asking the club for $50K according to your completely unsubstantiated claim... BS!!

I doubt very much he has an informant.

How is this any different from the bucketloads of players who do stuff like buy a pub when they're playing?

This is most totally idiotic thread I've ever seen. On any forum.

As others have said, he has had a very serious, potentially career ending injury. The club is managing him conservatively to give him his best shot. He will return this season and this is when all the questions will be answered. This sort of injury will not reoccur in on the first week back, rather 3 - 8 weeks back. If he can stay on the field he is cured, if it reoccurs for a third time it is all over. Simply nothing more needs to said on this issue.

The Lisfranc in jury has not recurred once - the problem last year was the screw, not the injury. Now to is soft tissue injuries related to inactivity (relatively, I am sure he is and has been far more active than most of us here) and the use of new muscle groups / muscle retraining.

Nobody in the know has ever suggested a recurrence of the injury, nor failure to heal.

'He is getting along to the club and training in the gym and running laps on official training days and non training days.'

FFS the club is not paying him big money to train. We'll only see Mitch actually playing footy when and if he gets his head in the right place. End of story.

His problems are physical, not mental... the reasons have been explained numerous times by people who know more than me about recovery and certainly more than yourself.

If he is not paid to train and get fit to play a professional game, what's he doing? Training is a big part of the reason he is employed

Lol - and this somehow led to him being voted into the LG.

You are not an M9, you are an M-Zero.

My god this thread is a load of crap.

What the hell is this thread???

This is what happens when a few people expose their character.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
