I know we are excitable but can we wait until the real stuff starts before we panic. That's how I do it, that's how my dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked well so far.

[little Iron Man reference for levity]

Roos would be calm, let's try and emulate.

I received an email today suggesting that he may not play again and it was from a usually very reliable source, I hope it's wrong.

BTW another part of the rumour was he had altered his running style to accommodate the foot injury and that had lead to soft tissue injuries.

I received an email today from a usually reliable source saying that one should never trust emails from usually reliable sources.

Has anyone, particularly those panicking about his foot, offered an reason why MC would lie in his twitter message? My mind is not devious enough to think of a reasonable one.

So we have emails from "reliable sources" that he is stuffed, first hand observations by posters that he is running freely, and from the horse's mouth (on social media) that all is progressing well.

I guess someonething will be proven right, eventually.

the pudding.

the pudding will get it right, one way or dee udder.

Not at all. It was just a typically wild, black and white hogans_heroes comment, which was that 'Mitch knows his foot better than anyone else'. He does, but you make exactly the right point - his Twitter feed is no more valid than someone's reported email, or my thoughts on the matter at all.

As I keep saying, I hope to god he gets right, but from all the evidence before me, he isn't. He doesn't even really look like he is progressing that much, beyond gentle running. As soon as he does, I'll be over the moon, but I'm not going to take his word for it that it will happen!

Are you sh*tting me? Mitch Clark saying his foot's fine is no more valid than your thoughts on the matter?

Are you being serious right now? Are you mental? Do you need medical assistance?

edit: [censored] up the quote.

I read all the post but do not often write posts, This is 100 % , I spoke to Nathan Jones and Mitch Clarke at Flinders St outside my office,

My main topic of conversation was the progress of Mitch and his injury.

He said he is ok and has no issues, "I am all good " Time to be happy everyone

Quite frankly im only going to believe what I see.

When Clarke , Dawes for that matter run out and string together games, and playing to their ability then and only then will I be confident. To date they are very expensive recruits.

I want Mitch fit and playing like everyone but ill reserve any euphoria til it happens.

Confucius just been sayin' for a few thousand years that man who listen to what comes from horse's mouth be more content than one who gets his kicks from usually reliable emails.

What's Confucius's opinion on Mitch's knee?

And how well does Confucius know Robbie F?

I asked a player last night about the forward line situation and he joked that Nev Jetta will be our FF the way it's going.

Seriously he than went on to say that Clark is in the best shape for Round 1 out of all of them. He'll be fine, he's apparently a very astute trainer outside of scheduled trainings, and will be tip top.

Good news.

The guy hasn't been in the main group all pre season, Round 1 you think would be unlikely.

He was in the main group (for a lot of stuff) before Christmas. If it really is a hamstring prior to Christmas then you would think he'd be back in the main group in the new few weeks and then able to play some part in the preseason games. We will know soon enough I guess.

Hi all. Just wondering how many of you have been to any training sessions and watched Mitch train, both before and after Christmas?

I have been to heaps of sessions, before his hamstring injury and after it.

I will say again, it was a hamstring injury, not his foot and not his knee!

Having spoken to a few mates who work at the club, when at a training session, they are easing him into it and they are confident he will be ready for the start of the year. He could be doing more but they want to be cautious.

Yes he and Dawes have missed the main drills, but if you went to training and saw the running they are origins, you would not all be so worried.

Yes they are expensive recruits and we want them to play, but to start saying he may retire and be so negative is just over the top.

ATM Dawes running and body are looking magnificent and watching Mitch do his stride throughs yesterday, I would be very surprised if he is not back doing drills next week.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int

    POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

The Dees played insipid, error riddled & uninspiring footy all night and in a lightning delayed match they eventually succumbed to Collingwood by 46 points at the MCG in the final game of the year. Thank God this season is finally over. Bring on 2025.

    LAST DANCE by The Oracle

Forget the wishful thinking from Magpie fans who think their team can perform yet another miracle and somehow snatch a place in the 2024 finals series when their team takes on the Demons at the MCG on Friday night. It ain’t gunna happen. They can whistle Dixie through their non-existent front teeth but the fact of the matter is that both teams have run their race. The game is a dead rubber — for each of them, this will be the last dance of the season.  And given the history between the two

    RED FACED by Whispering Jack

The wind and the hot unseasonable temperatures together with lights turned on mid game at People First Stadium conspired to leave many Suns players and supporters red faced and gasping for air as the Demons proved a number of points on their way to a nine goal triumph on Saturday afternoon in the Carrara sunshine. Melbourne is the only non-Queensland team to taste victory at this venue in 2024. This surely leaves a number of journalists and media mavens red faced after they rushed to pass
