Did we pick a winner for 2013? With Cale gone, the big Brent was wide open. I think it was a tight race with a lot of hands put up but no stand out.

With the new season coming up it leads me to wonder what is the essence of what this award stands for. Obviously it's for the guy that continually disappoints but is it because he doesn't do the right thing once he's got the ball or he's pushed off it too easily or he doesn't go in for the hardball or looks great till he kicks it or maybe something else? I've got one guy in mind but I don't want to put the mozz on him. I so hope I'm wrong.

I would like to think that this year everybody is ineligible! Bennell?

Blease for mine; doesn't get it enough and seems to lack fitness, but when he gets a head of steam and runs with it he looks a $m's.

Trouble is he generally plays more like 2 cents.

Do we really need a "Grgic" award? He was a player who's confidence was significantly effected by the treatment he got from supporters and the whole concept of a "supporter" group voting on a player they don't like seems a complete contradiction in terms.

Recently there have been references to the impact that continued criticism would have on Mark Neeld and the fact that he is a "husband and a father". The same respect should be shown to the players who bear the brunt of supporter anger and disappointment and who have no right of reply.

Lets dump the "Grgic" award and its tastelessness.

I would, of course, be happy to have a "Grgic" award for the worst poster on DL, that could be a lot more fun and at least the person would have the right of reply!

Don't be too precious. This is a forum to both praise and vent and for many, an outlet for some disturbing psychosis. And that is why I'm backing Bleasy to go back to back Grgics

Great post and agree with the sentiment entirely

Agree with BB. This kind of thread is plain nasty. At least Brent Grgic played AFL and ran out in the red and blue, which is I guess stratospheres above what the poster has done.

The whole concept lacks class. I don't mind running down players who leave us in the manner that say, Scully did but the Grgics and Mortons of this world served the club as best they could whilst they were with us. In Brent's case he was likened to Gary Lyon early in his career and was pilloried by some simply because it turned out that he was never going to fulfill the expectations people had of him. It's totally unfair and unnecessary.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
