Well, that was harder than it was meant to be!! North was very well coached by Josh Francou (who is off to Sydney), tagging Suckling & dropping big men back into the Norwood forward line to keep it close & nerve racking all day. Nathan Bassett told 891ABC that he did not have a job in 2014 then hastily added "other than coaching Norwood". Just go get him Roosy! Norwood's defensive pressure at the ball & forward press would put the Melbourne sides of the last-half decade to shame.

I will try to attach a photo of the scene when the Premiership Cup was presented. Nearly 37,000 attended the last game at AAMI Stadium (based on the traffic, I swear they drove 37,000 cars!) The SANFL allowed the crowd onto the arena for the presentation. It was just like a giant country grand final (yes, I know...) But that is what makes Adelaide special. And it was very special hearing "It's a Grand Old Flag..." played at a dual premiership celebration. One day, we will all hear it on the MCG...God & Roosy willing

PS Cooling on Aish. He's top 10 but not #2 pick. Dumont is at least as good. Georgiou would be a sensible "moneyball" defender.

Edit - added photo, I hope

Very highly doubt Aish will get to Watsons build.. Watson is a solid 96kg with powerful legs. Aish will be lucky to clock 82 kg. If anyone he will most likely have the build of a Kade Simpson or Dyson Heppell.

If either of us can remember this conversation in 11 years, we can have another look and see how he's come on. :P

Lot of love here for a SANFL coach that has never even had an AFL level assistant role. Granted that he's had some success at Norwood but to compare him against what's available in the way of Richardson, Burns and Dew is not thinking straight.

Funny, I'm warming on him based on this. Dumont is a very hard worker, but not anywhere near as polished.

There's been a lot of love for him for a few years. The guy is good and I think he'd be very worth having around.

+1. and to the earlier posters. Aish isn't going to be anything like a Jobe Watson build. The Aish family are highly skilled sticks!

Ralph the guy is as skinny as what Morton was when he was a under 18 player. Trust me as a qualified personal trainer even with him being in the AFL system his genetics and metabolism he is not going to just stack on 20 kg over his career and become a big powerful midfielder like Jobe Watson who your comparing to. Its way off the mark and no where near What Watson was as a kid. Watson wasnt so much skinny but had alot of puppy fat he had to turn into muscle hence why he looks fairly cut now. With Aish shoulder history aswell he will not straight away just hit the weight and try and stack on weight. It will do more damage to shoulders especially when he is quite young. I see Aish in the same catergory as Morton, Cam Hunter, Kade Simpon, Matty Lappin and even Dustin Fletcher. Will put bulk on but like these guys will always be slender and lean.

That just adds to the obscurity of him not being picked up as an assistant in that time.

Do you know if he's tried to break into the AFL before, Ralph?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
